2: Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare, maintain, and update basic Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), Welder Qualification Record (WQR), and Welder Performance Records under supervision.
Assist in data entry, filing, and maintenance of welding documentation in Weld Eye Software.
Support the preparation and compilation of documents for Welding Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
Assist in implementing approved welding procedures for production welding activities.
Maintain Welding Procedure Specification Matrix and Welder Qualification Matrix, including document tracking and updates.
Assist in preparing and updating work instructions related to welding requirements (WPS, consumable control, etc.).
Support identification of material grades based on PMI reports and assist in collecting and verifying related data.
Assist in reviewing route sheets and basic welding-related production documents.
Coordinate with Welding Supervisor / Charge Hand to support controlled welding activities on the shop floor.
Support preparation of Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) requests and basic job planning activities.
Assist Maintenance teams in routine checks and documentation related to welding machines and equipment.
Support review of weld inspection and NDE results and report any deviations for further action.
Participate in weld quality meetings and assist in collecting data for root cause analysis.
Monitor welding activities on-site and report welding performance issues to Welding Engineer / Senior Welding Engineer.
Assist in conducting basic welding quality and safety awareness sessions for welders and operators.
Support vendor documentation reviews and assist in vendor qualification activities.
Assist in tracking welding consumables usage and inventory records with Stores.
Support coordination of material testing and assist in compilation of test results and reports.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to welding under guidance.
Assist in Research & Development activities by collecting data and supporting trials as required.
Prepare basic technical and activity reports related to welding documentation and performance.
Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Welding Engineer, or Management.
Participate, as required, in Quality and EHS audits from API and other external organizations.
Formal Education & Certification
Degree/Diploma in Engineering or equivalent
Knowledge & Experience
Minimum 1 years of experience as a Material and/or Welding Engineer
Hold Diploma International Welding Engineer (IWE) by IIW will be an advantage
Minimum 1 years of experience working in a Manufacturing environment, preferably in the Oil & Gas Industry.
Applied knowledge of welding activities for all types of steels including carbon steel, stainless steel, high and low alloy steel.
Knowledge of international codes such as API 1104, API 5L, API 6A, API 16A, API 16R, API 16C, ASME sect IX and AWS D1.1.
Personal Attributes
Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrate ability to work under constant pressure while maintaining the required quality level.
Able to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervisor and also as part of a team.
Possess excellent organisational skills and is detailed oriented.
