Senior Data Engineer – AI Detection Systems (Poker / Anti-Fraud)

Remote (Global) Role Overview A5 Labs is building next-generation AI-driven detection systems designed to identify unfair play, fraud, and adversarial behavior at scale.

We are hiring a

Senior Data Engineer

to help design and build the data and detection infrastructure powering our AI anti-cheat systems.

This is an

engineering-first role .

Candidates must have strong data engineering experience

and

demonstrate

either : Deep expertise in

online poker / gameplay ecosystems ,

OR Strong, long-term experience developing

anti-fraud or behavioral detection systems .

Key Responsibilities Detection & Behavioral Data Systems Design and maintain scalable data pipelines for behavioral and gameplay data Build feature engineering workflows supporting detection models Develop datasets used to identify suspicious or automated behavior Improve detection accuracy through data-driven signal development Support real-world detection and investigation workflows Data Engineering Build and maintain large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines Process high-volume behavioral and event data Optimize distributed data processing workflows (Spark / PySpark preferred) Ensure data quality, monitoring, and reliability Work with cloud-based data platforms and storage systems AI & ML Collaboration Collaborate with ML and RL researchers to operationalize models Translate model outputs into production data pipelines Support model monitoring using precision/recall and related metrics Improve analytics workflows using modern AI tooling

Required Qualifications ✅ Core Engineering Requirements (Mandatory) Strong Python and SQL skills Experience building production data pipelines Distributed data processing experience (Spark, Databricks, or similar) Cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure) Experience handling large-scale datasets Strong ownership mindset in production environments ✅ Domain Requirement —

ONE of the following is required

Option A — Poker / Gameplay Expertise Deep understanding of online poker or competitive gameplay ecosystems Familiarity with gameplay behavior patterns, collusion risks, or unfair play Experience working with gameplay telemetry or player behavior data OR Option B — Anti-Fraud / Detection Expertise Long-term involvement in fraud detection or trust & safety systems Experience building behavioral or anomaly detection pipelines Work related to payments fraud, marketplace abuse, cybersecurity, or risk systems Experience improving detection accuracy in production environments

Preferred Experience Behavioral analytics or anomaly detection Feature engineering for ML systems Real-time or streaming data pipelines Adversarial system environments Graph or network analysis

Not a Fit If Pure reporting or dashboard-focused roles Investigation-only or operations roles Generic data engineering without poker or fraud domain exposure
