Role Overview
The Planning Engineer will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and updating project schedules, assisting in delay analysis, and supporting the team in defending against contractual claims. This role combines technical scheduling, contractual correspondence, and progress reporting, with opportunities to develop skills in forensic delay analysis and claims assessment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Schedule Preparation & Management
Prepare and update project schedules for tender, consultancy, and construction stages using Primavera P6 and MS Project, including developing multiple “what‑if” scenarios to assess potential changes and their impacts
Ensure project schedules and updates meet contractual and procedural requirements
Coordinate with design, construction, and contract administration teams to align schedules with project objectives
2. Reporting & Records Management
Prepare, compile, and maintain progress and productivity reports
Assist in calculating material volumes and analysing productivity
Maintain organised schedule‑related records to ensure defensibility in case of claims or disputes
Track schedule risks and provide early warnings to project teams
Identify weak or incomplete project records and coordinate with the team to close gaps
Draft response letters on programme‑related issues in consultation with senior staff
Assist in claims analysis, including the review of contractor submissions
Perform initial (‘first‑pass’) delay analysis for EOT claims — a preliminary review to identify potential entitlement and determine if detailed forensic analysis is required
Assist in preparation of EOT reports, including collation of records and analysis results
Requirements
Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
4-7 years of relevant experience in planning, scheduling, or project controls, preferably in marine, coastal, or infrastructure projects
Intermediate proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project; knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D an advantage
Basic understanding of contractual claims processes and delay analysis techniques
Strong organisational and analytical skills with attention to detail
Good written communication skills for drafting contractual correspondence and progress reports
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Ability to work in office based in Jakarta or Batam
Exposure to FIDIC or other standard forms of contract
Experience in delay analysis or involvement in EOT claim assessments
Familiarity with volume‑based productivity tracking
Familiarity with Coastal and Reclamation works
