Position Introductory:
The Executive DTP (Desktop Publishing) Artist is responsible for reviewing and preparing all artwork files received from YSQ Marketing for cigarette packaging. The candidate ensures the design files are print-ready by checking color accuracy, positioning, trapping, and format suitability. He will also coordinate closely with the CTP department and is expected to support additional tasks in related departments such as digital printing, Flexo printing, Gravure printing, offset, digital machine and basic color management.
Responsibilities:
1. Artwork Review & Preflight
Receive and organize all incoming design files from marketing.
Perform preflight checks to ensure:
Fonts are embedded or outlined.
Images are high resolution (min. 300 dpi).
Colors are correctly assigned (CMYK or Pantone as required).
File dimensions match die-line and product specs.
Bleeds, trims, and crop marks are present and correct.
2. Color & Position Viability Checks
Evaluate artwork for printability:
Ensure design color combinations are feasible for gravure/offset/flexo/digital.
Confirm registration tolerance, overprint settings, trapping, and critical alignment.
Raise any potential issues to the Prepress Supervisor before file approval.
3. CTP File Preparation
Prepare print-ready files based on production specs.
Ensure all file layers are properly named and separated (e.g., varnish, foil, emboss).
Generate composite and separation proofs for verification.
Liaise with the CTP operator to ensure correct plate output and exposure settings.
Assist in running or setting up jobs on digital presses (Gallus Digital One).
Help create LSD(Light/Standard/Dark) and barrel proofs for customer approvals.
Learn and contribute to color matching and press profiling (Delta E, LAB values).
Coordinate with QC when there's a deviation between proof and print.
5. Communication & Coordination
Communicate directly with the sales/marketing team in HQ, especially when clarification is needed on customer requirements.
Participate in job briefings/printing of prototype with production, QC, and teams.
6. File Management & Archiving
Maintain proper file naming conventions and archive all approved artworks and final outputs.
Back up files regularly and ensure access to critical files when needed.
Requirements:
Degree or Diploma in Printing Technology or related field.
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, and other design tools.
Knowledge in prepress workflows, color separations, and print technology.
Basic understanding of CTP and digital printing processes.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
English-speaking for HQ coordination is a strong advantage.
Willing to learn and support across departments.
Other:
Familiarity with PrintNet or prinergy software.
Exposure to color management software (GMG, EFI, or similar).
Basic understanding of gravure/flexo offset printing principles.
