Position Summary
Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for managing all inventory control activities, including cycle counting, receiving operations, and overall inventory accuracy for raw materials, components, WIP, and finished goods. This role leads both the cycle counting team and the receiving team, ensuring accurate material transactions, proper documentation, and compliance with automotive industry standards. The position works closely with Operations, Production Control, Logistics, and Quality to resolve discrepancies and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Accuracy & Control
Lead and manage the daily cycle counting program to ensure accurate inventory levels for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
Monitor, analyze, and reconcile inventory variances; drive root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
Maintain and improve inventory accuracy KPIs (Inventory adjustments, production closures, cycle count program attainment, Inventory accuracy, stock aging).
Ensure proper execution of inventory transactions in the ERP/MRP system (receipts, issues, transfers, BOM adjustments).
Coordinate and lead annual and periodic physical inventory.
Receiving Operations
Supervise the receiving team, ensuring timely and accurate receiving of inbound raw materials, components, and supplies.
Ensure incoming materials are properly inspected, labeled, documented, and transacted into the ERP system.
Oversee unloading, staging, and verification processes to maintain accuracy and compliance with quality standards.
Resolve discrepancies between BOLs, Scheduling agreements, and actual receipts; collaborate with Materials planning and Quality to address supplier issues.
Ensure proper storage and material flow from receiving to warehouse locations.
Team Leadership
Supervise, train, and coach cycle counters and inventory control staff and receiving team.
Assign daily tasks, set performance expectations, and conduct regular performance reviews.
Develop team capabilities through cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives.
Process & Compliance
Ensure Safety and OSHA standards are follow. Lead and participate in root cause analysis of Safety incidents.
Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures related to inventory handling, counting, and reconciliation.
Partner with Quality and Operations to maintain material traceability and compliance with automotive standards (IATF 16949, ISO).
Audit material flow processes and recommend improvements to reduce errors and increase efficiency.
Review and update inventory control procedures as needed.
Participate and lead the design and audit of labeling processes to meet customer requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Production Planning, Materials, and Logistics teams to support accurate scheduling and material availability.
Support engineering on BOM audits, engineering changes, and master data governance.
Communicate inventory issues, risks, and resolutions clearly and promptly to stakeholders.
Education & Experience
Bachelorโs degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred.
3+ years of inventory control experience, ideally in the automotive or high-volume manufacturing industry.
Supervisory or team lead experience required.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of inventory control processes, cycle counting, and root-cause analysis.
Experience with automotive standards such as IATF 16949 is a strong plus.
Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Plex, QAD, or similar).
APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) preferred.
