Electrical Power Plant Engineer

Overview

Responsible for overseeing the design, operation, maintenance, and optimization of electrical systems within a power generation facility. This role ensures reliable and efficient power generation while adhering to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities

Implement preventive and predictive maintenance for high-voltage systems and control panels. Develop and review electrical system designs for power generation and distribution. Monitor electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchgear, and excitation systems. Perform load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination studies. Monitor and troubleshoot electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchgear, and control systems. Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Manage SCADA, PLC, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) for boiler-turbine-generator coordination. Analyze plant performance to maximize electrical output and minimize auxiliary power consumption. Recommend improvements for heat rate and overall plant efficiency. Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Experience: Minimum 13 years in electrical engineering within coal-fired power plants. Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; experience with turbine-generator excitation systems is a plus. Required Skills

Expertise in generator synchronization, excitation systems, and grid interconnection. Proficiency in electrical simulation tools (ETAP, MATLAB). Strong knowledge of boiler-turbine-generator electrical integration. Experience with turbine-generator excitation systems. Equal Opportunity
