Job Description

Overview The Asia Group, LLC is now accepting applications for an Associate or Senior Associate to join our growing Jakarta office.

The Asia Group (TAG) is a strategic and business advisory firm based in Washington, D.C. supporting Fortune 500 firms in established and emerging markets across the Indo‑Pacific region and the United States. TAG’s clients span digital infrastructure, online platforms, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, media and entertainment, defense, energy, financial services, hospitality, and transportation.

The role supports TAG’s Jakarta‑based team by conducting in‑depth research, developing actionable insights, interfacing with clients, and producing client‑ready updates and research memoranda. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Indonesia’s political system and business landscape, experience engaging stakeholders in both the public and private sectors, fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia, and the ability to deliver clear, concise, and nuanced briefings and written products to TAG clients and leadership.

Job Requirements

Strong public affairs ethics, conducting all activities with honesty and integrity.

Experience working with the Government of Indonesia, relevant public sector agencies, or multinational companies in government affairs roles is highly valued.

At a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in public policy, economics, political science, international relations, or a relevant discipline; a master’s degree or equivalent is preferable.

At least 3–5 years of work experience, ideally demonstrating increasing capacity and responsibility (for senior associate, at least 5–7 years).

Strong English‑language communication skills, both verbal and written.

Proactive, can‑do attitude and willingness to provide strong support on both critical client matters and simple administrative tasks.

Strong teamwork skills and a positive, professional approach to collaboration.

Flexibility with respect to working and communication hours, particularly when coordinating with team members in Washington, D.C.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to adopt and utilize new programs, including AI‑enabled solutions.

Job Responsibilities

Support TAG’s Jakarta and Washington teams through high‑quality political, policy, market, and industry research and analysis focused on Indonesia.

Monitor and analyze developments from government stakeholders and public sector institutions and advise internal teams on implications for client strategies.

Effectively manage relationships with government and public sector stakeholders, representing TAG and its clients in relevant engagements, as appropriate to level.

Work closely with business and corporate stakeholders—including industry coalitions, chambers of commerce, and trade associations—to support TAG’s business development initiatives.

Monitor local print and online media for developments relevant to client equities and potential business opportunities.

Support senior TAG staff in planning and executing public and private sector engagement initiatives.

Contribute to the growth and development of TAG’s Jakarta office and the broader Southeast Asia practice.

Provide logistical and substantive support for client engagements and partner travel to Jakarta, including support for senior executive travel and events.
