STR is the global leader in hospitality data benchmarking, analytics and marketplace insights for the global hospitality industry. The Data Operations team delivers confidential, accurate and actionable data that empowers our clients to strategize and compete across markets.
Role Description
As Manager of Data Operations in Jakarta, you will lead a cross‑functional team responsible for the full lifecycle of benchmark data—acquisition, integration, validation, and delivery. You will report to the Director, Data Operations in London and collaborate closely with Client Operations, Sales, Account Management, Hospitality Research and Product teams to ensure the effectiveness of our benchmarking platform.
Responsibilities
Lead and oversee Data Operations teams responsible for acquiring, integrating, validating, retaining, and delivering historical, forward‑looking, and monthly P&L performance data—scaling processes to support additional data types as needed.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, Sales and other internal teams to support growth in benchmarking participation and revenue.
Provide leadership and subject‑matter expertise to direct reports on best practices in data management and operational workflows.
Respond to and manage data‑related requests from clients, ensuring high‑quality service and timely delivery.
Drive team performance by recruiting, training, scheduling, coaching, and clearly communicating expectations and monitoring Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
Collaborate with the Data Operations Leadership Team to establish departmental vision, goals and long‑term objectives, with a primary focus on the Asia Pacific Region.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture through effective leadership, mentorship and decision‑making.
Partner proactively with IT and technology teams to identify and implement process improvements that enhance team productivity and customer experience.
Perform additional duties as assigned by senior management to support departmental and organizational goals.
Manage a geographically distributed team across multiple office locations, fostering collaboration, consistency and high performance across regions.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
Proven experience in team management, with a track record of leading and developing others.
Demonstrated expertise in data operations, process optimization and project management.
Experience collaborating with IT development teams to deliver key applications and enhance operational capabilities.
Background in hospitality, data entry, data management or customer service.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively and communicate clearly.
High adaptability and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and respond quickly to shifting priorities.
Results‑oriented mindset with a focus on data accuracy, confidentiality and quality.
Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in data validation and quality assurance.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Familiarity with hospitality benchmarking data, products, processes and client base.
In‑depth knowledge of the hospitality industry, including brands, operators, owners and revenue management practices.
Experience with databases (e.g., SQL) and data visualization tools (e.g., SAP Web Intelligence, Power BI, Tableau).
Strong analytical skills with confidence in handling and interpreting performance data.
Creative problem‑solving abilities to support project delivery, drive innovation and improve operational efficiency.
Solid project management capabilities, including task prioritization and execution within tight deadlines.
Excellent English communication skills—both verbal and written—with the ability to present ideas clearly and engage with internal and external stakeholders.
