HSE Officer (Maternity Leave Contract)

Job Purpose :

The HSE Officer (Maternity Leave Cover) is responsible for supporting and maintaining the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental management systems during the contract period. This role ensures that workplace activities comply with relevant HSE regulations, company policies, and industry standards. The HSE Officer provides guidance, monitoring, and reporting to promote a safe working environment, prevent accidents, and support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the maternity leave coverage.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure all operations comply with applicable HSE laws, regulations, and company standards.

Monitor workplace conditions and identify potential hazards.

Support implementation of HSE management systems (ISO 45001, ISO 14001 if applicable).

Report, record, and investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.

Prepare incident investigation reports and support implementation of corrective actions.

Conduct HSE induction for new employees.

Promote HSE culture and awareness campaigns.

Assist in developing and maintaining emergency response plans.

Maintain accurate HSE records, permits, inspections, logs, and training files.

Prepare weekly / monthly HSE reports.

Attend HSE meetings and provide updates.

Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.

Professional safety certifications is a plus.

Minimum 2–3 years of experience in HSE roles within industrial, manufacturing, or construction environments.

Familiarity with HSE documentation, reporting, and compliance with national regulations.

Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.

Ability to monitor workplace safety, identify hazards, and ensure implementation of corrective actions.

Understanding of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic reporting tools.

Good communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with all division.

Ability to train employees on safety awareness and procedures.

High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.

Able to work independently or with team.

Strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
