Engineering Manager

Our client, a global leader in advanced semiconductor and vacuum technologies, is strengthening its Service Engineering capability and looking for a senior Engineering Manager to join the Product Improvement team within the VP Engineering organisation.

This is a technically senior leadership role ideal for a domain expert who wants to act as technical authority across complex electro-mechanical product improvements.

The Opportunity You will drive engineering excellence across a global service product portfolio including vacuum dry pumps, abatement systems and cryogenic technologies.

This is a leadership position without initial direct reports. Success in the role will come from technical credibility, decisive decision-making, and the ability to influence global engineering teams, factories, and customer centres.

Service projects typically operate on agile 12–16 week cycles, requiring strong execution focus and the ability to deliver robust solutions at pace.

Planned international travel (approx. one week per quarter, including China/APAC) is required.

Key Responsibilities Act as technical and design authority for service product improvements and upgrades Lead root cause investigations and deliver robust, validated engineering solutions Support NPI/NPD with strong product and domain expertise Improve reliability, turnaround times and customer experience Influence engineering decisions across global teams Oversee service engineering KPIs and delivery outcomes Collaborate closely with manufacturing, procurement and regional technical support

What We’re Looking For Senior electro-mechanical or mechatronics engineer Strong background in vacuum systems, semiconductor equipment or complex capital equipment Proven experience in NPI/NPD and lifecycle engineering Deep root cause and reliability capability (FMEA, 8D, failure analysis) Experience acting as a go-to SME or technical authority Strong influencing skills and decisive leadership style Understanding of manufacturing and supply chain interfaces

Exposure to ML, data analytics, or hardware-to-cloud integration is advantageous.
