About the Job
Reporting to the
Director of Software Engineering , you will join
Atlas Team as a Sysadmin Engineer , and you will be in charge of the
system and infrastructure operations .
Maintain system and network infrastructure in operational condition.
Update and monitor both internal and external systems.
Manage
access requests
and maintain proper control over user permissions.
Map and document the Information System , contributing to a cultural shift from โit worksโ to โit works and itโs documented.โ
Install and administer
external compute resources
(e.g. OVH bare metal) in a controlled and reliable manner (using
SLURM ).
Conduct security assessment and propose or discuss remediation plans.
Contribute ideas for new installations, deployments, and automation.
Simplify and document procedures to improve efficiency and reliability.
Manage internal tickets (via GitLab) : triage, prioritization, follow-up, and metrics.
Provide
basic user support for workstations
(Linux, Windows, and macOS).
Manage user access (provisioning, revocation, monitoring, incident alerts).
Participate in
onboarding and offboarding
(hardware setup, account creation, SI overview).
Manage software licenses and hardware inventory.
Promote best practices and enhance information security culture.
Collaborate with
Sarah , our Office Manager, on
technical vendor relationships
(cloud and infrastructure providers).
R&D and Operations
While this position is
primarily focused on managing infrastructure and servers (โ90%) , the engineer will also
contribute around 10% of their time to R&D efforts .
This includes supporting the
definition of operational procedures
for successive versions of our DNA-based data storage system.
The role is
anchored in production infrastructure , but thanks to his/her experience, the person will
collaborate closely with the Software team โusing their operational expertise to help design and validate our next-generation DNA storage device.
In short: a
full-time infrastructure engineer ,
structuring and maintaining the system , yet
deeply aligned with R&D DNA .
About You
Linux
(multi-distribution, strong experience with Debian and Ubuntu)
Bash scripting , system automation, and administration
Networking : ARP, IP, TCP, SSH, Wi-Fi
Virtualization : Proxmox or equivalent
Boot/BIOS/EFI , Dell rack servers (iDRAC)
Python
and general scripting experience
Ability to support
cross-platform
environments (Linux, Windows and macOS)
Experience with
MDM/IAM
(Okta or equivalent)
Knowledge of
Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms
(AWS, GCP, or Azure)
Familiarity with
Google Workspace administration
At least 3+ years
of professional experience in system administration, infrastructure, or DevOps.
Flexible, empathetic, patient, and service-oriented (user support mindset)
Clear communicator, organized, and solution-driven
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
The position is onsite, based at our office located at 5 Impasse Reille in Paris (14 th arrondissement). The workspace combines modern classic offices with advanced laboratory rooms, designed to foster collaboration between computer scientists and biologists. This setup supports our mission to tackle the challenges of DNA synthesis and writing, encouraging interdisciplinary teamwork and innovation.
In 2026, our offices will relocate to a new headquarters in the center of Paris (near Notre-Dame Cathedral). This state-of-the-art facility, under construction, will offer an inspiring and accessible setting, to host our growing team.
