Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for an

Engine Icing engineer (f/m)

to join the Ice Protection system group based in Toulouse, France.

Wing and Nacelle Ice Protection Systems (IPS) are key to ensure A/C safety and performance. Developing and maintaining in‑service existing systems requires an understanding of the system performance, ice physics, thermal analysis and adapted performance tools. Future programmes will face new challenges such as certification and new technologies like electrical power sources instead of bleed power sources, significantly impacting the methods used to develop IPS and the associated tools.

Your challenges

Analysing engine in‑service events linked to icing to determine root causes, perform safety assessments and monitor engine resilience to icing conditions.

Assessing differences and defining with engine manufacturers the activities necessary to demonstrate robustness of engine evolutions to icing threats via analysis, ground and/or flight tests.

Producing reports supporting A/C certification.

Following regulation evolutions for new engine development and defining, with Airbus and engine manufacturers, preparation of future compliance and verification strategies.

Analyzing robustness to icing threat of new engines in development and steering engine manufacturers’ design choices, including new concepts like Open Rotor or Fuel‑Cell powered propellers.

Serving as a pillar of the Airbus Engine Icing Group, involving Design Office specialists, certification specialists and Flight Tests.

Conducting activities in close contact with Powerplant Specialists, Engine Manufacturers and Flight Tests.

Your boarding pass

Degree in mechanical / aeronautical engineering.

Significant knowledge of engine behaviour or good knowledge of fluid dynamics, turbo‑machines, thermal and thermodynamic engineering.

Project Management basics.

Dynamic, positive, curious, passionate, and creative.

Willingness to learn and collaborate with a high diversity of people.
