Aircraft Embedded Software Developer – Airbus UpNext Airbus UpNext is launching a new cross‑divisional demonstrator that will deliver strategic outputs to all Airbus divisions. It will reinforce knowledge and capacity to propose disruptive avionics architecture and advanced awareness sensors for future Airbus Helicopters products.

Following the initial exploration from VERTEX and other UpNext demonstrators, sense & avoidance technologies such as cameras and LiDARs, as well as aircraft robust positioning even in the case of GPS loss, will be further developed to a high maturity level for helicopter use. These technologies will increase the crew’s awareness of the environment through a novel Human‑Machine Interface.

Responsibilities

Define, develop and integrate hardware and software components for both high‑performance computer awareness sensors and core computers, including HMI outputs.

Integrate the software development team with a focus on certifiability support and analysis to ensure future certification of delivered software.

Facilitate rapid prototyping of the solution for demonstration purposes and participate in the integration of these components on the demonstrator, ensuring the adequate connections between different technobricks.

Participate in creativity sessions to ensure sprint set‑up and filtering of orientations with regard to technical feasibility.

Qualifications

Engineering degree with an innovation flavour.

3 to 5 years experience in software development.

Embedded software developer mastering C/C++ programming language; Rust is a plus. Ability to develop on Linux while taking into account RTOS system specificities and constraints.

Willingness to ensure software quality of existing and new software with a focus on DO178 norms and associated processes, plans, specifications and testing phases (knowledge of other well‑defined industry norms is welcomed). Innovative approaches to achieve the objectives of these standards are key.

Experience with git workflow and AGILE‑Scrum methodology is a plus.

Flexibility and capability to adapt to changing environments.

Ability to self‑manage in a non‑hierarchical environment, understanding organizational needs and making decisions accordingly.

Position details The position is based in Marignane (Marseille Area) at Airbus Helicopters premises and will require some business travel to Toulouse. It comes with a limited contract (CDI‑C) linked to the deliverable of the demonstrator (estimated end date June 2028) with a start date ASAP.
