Offer Description
We are offering afully funded 3-year postdoctoral positionto investigate the molecular mechanisms that ensure faithful epigenome maintenance during DNA replication. This position is supported by a European Research Council (ERC) grant and is availablefrom May 1st, 2026(flexible start date).
Project Overview: Faithful transmission of cellular identity requires not only accurate DNA replication but also the preservation of chromatin organization and epigenetic information. During DNA replication, forks must coordinate DNA synthesis with chromatin reassembly, epigenetic mark inheritance, and maintenance of genome integrity across diverse chromatin states and physiological conditions.
This project aims to uncovernovel mechanisms linking DNA replication, fork stability, and chromatin maintenance, with a particular focus on how replication asymmetry between leading and lagging strands constrains genome and epigenome maintenance. These strands differ in mutation rates, DNA damage repair, epigenetic mark inheritance, and transposable element silencing. The lagging strand, in particular, may represent a key source of (epi)genetic instability under pathological conditions such as cancer, yet the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Understanding how disruptions in these processes contribute to cancer development and cell fate decisions is a central objective of the project.
Experimental Systems and Approaches: Culturedhuman cell lines and mouse embryonic stem cells. The project involves thedevelopment and application of innovative genomic approaches to characterize new mechanisms of epigenome stability, combining experimental and computational analyses.
Research Environment
The laboratory is part of theUnit of Genome Integrity and Cancers (UMR9019)at theGustave Roussy Institute, Europe’s leading cancer center. Gustave Roussy combines cutting-edge basic research, clinical investigation, and technological innovation, and is located inVillejuif, in the southern area of Grand Paris.
We offer
