Danone's Research & Innovation (R&I) center, located in Gif-sur-Yvette on the Saclay plateau, is a global center of excellence dedicated to food innovation. This state‑of‑the‑art center is at the heart of one of the largest international scientific clusters. It houses more than 500 experts from 40 nationalities passionate about life sciences, nutrition, consumer experience, pilots, and product design. Danone's R&I center is designed to foster collaboration with food tech startups and accelerate innovation in partnership with consumers and partners around food and health.
The Medical & Nutritional Science (M&NS) department is hiring a Senior Scientific Affairs manager on a permanent contract in the Nutrition & Scientific Affairs team. The position is based in Gif-sur-Yvette on the Saclay plateau at the Danone Global Research & Innovation Center Daniel Carasso, which is at the heart of Danone's Research & Innovation. The center comprises state‑of‑the‑art laboratories and pilot workshops, with employees working collectively to innovate on dairy and plant products, waters, and specialized nutrition for the future. The M&NS department aims to create value and growth opportunities for Danone around Nutrition and/or Health. The department includes teams based in the Netherlands (Utrecht), France (Gif-sur-Yvette), and Singapore.
Mission Description Senior Scientific Affairs Manager, Dairy Core
Exciting 9‑month assignment (March–Dec) with the Global Nutrition & Scientific Affairs team, covering maternity leave
Dynamic, cross‑functional role driving diverse projects that blend nutrition, health expertise, and strong project management

To enlarge and valorise the scientific evidence that yogurt is good.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to shaping and executing the Advocacy Strategy
With the Scientific Affairs Lead, contribute to define and execute the advocacy strategy for the Dairy Category and its global brands, focusing on superiority, differentiation, and positive health impact
Develop narratives and claims, ensuring alignment with Danone’s business objectives and regulatory standards
Develop and implement advocacy toolkits and science‑based narratives to support yogurt’s position in Food‑Based Dietary Guidelines (FBDGs) and public health policies
Map the scientific, pre‑competitive and competitive environment to identify key stakeholders and platforms and inform Danone advocacy strategy
Engage with key opinion leaders (KOLs), scientific associations, and external experts to amplify Danone’s science and secure endorsements for yogurt’s health benefits
Managing the portfolio and projects
Prioritise and manage advocacy projects, including communication and engagement initiatives, to communicate new evidence and claims for yogurt and fermented dairy products
Coordinate cross‑functional teams (R&I, Marketing, Legal, Public Affairs, Advanced Techno, UX, CBUs) to ensure cohesive execution and communication of scientific strategies
Communicating with scientific excellence
Identify and leverage scientific, consumer, and market trends to inform innovation opportunities and communication strategies
Build and activate impactful scientific content and tools for both internal and external audiences, measuring their reach and effectiveness
Stay at the forefront of scientific advancements in nutrition, dairy, and fermented foods, ensuring Danone’s propositions are ownable and differentiating
Key Deliverables
Science strategy and advocacy roadmap for yogurt and fermented dairy products
Scientific narratives and claims supporting product superiority and health benefits (e.g. nutrient density, live ferments, sustainable diets)
Stakeholders mappings, activation plans and toolkits for global and local teams, including measurable KPIs (e.g., reach, stakeholder engagement, advocacy outcomes)
Insights & evidence generation plans, expert engagement strategies, and publication of new research, position, narrative reviews
Required Skills & Competencies
Advanced scientific training in biology, nutrition, or dairy science (Master’s degree minimum)
Proven experience in science communication, project management, and cross‑functional collaboration
Strong ability to translate scientific insights into business opportunities, communication and advocacy actions
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with fluency in English
Experience in working with external stakeholders Key Opinion Leaders, Medical and Scientific Societies, Trade associations
