The opportunity We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Underwriter Financial Lines, based in our central Paris office.

Looking back at successful growth in Europe over the last years we decided to expand our award winning product offering to the French market, focusing on commercial insurance. We aim to build up a strong team that embodies the Markel style and is as passionate about this exciting project as we are.

What you’ll be doing

Developing our French market presence and building a sustainable portfolio to generate profitable growth

Leading the D&O UW team in our Paris office

Underwriting of Delegations and schemes products and facilities (D&O)

Underwriting development for the open market for financial lines

Contributing to products and drafting improvements

Business development in the French brokers landscape, maintaining strong relationship whilst identifying new business partnerships and opportunities

Collaborating closely with the team to challenge and fine tune our strategy

Some travelling in France and in Europe throughout the year to meet our key partners and peers

Our must-haves

Significant experience in the French financial lines market

Management experience is preferable

Fluency in French with professional level of spoken and written English

Hands‑on mentality, entrepreneurial spirit

Broad brokers network

L’opportunité Nous recrutons un(e) Souscripteur senior Lignes financières, basé(e) dans notre bureau parisien.

Fort de plusieurs années de croissance réussie en Europe, Markel poursuit son développement sur le marché français, avec un focus sur l’assurance des entreprises et une ambition claire de structuration long terme. Notre ambition : construire une équipe solide, entrepreneuriale et engagée, incarnant pleinement l’ADN Markel et partageant l’enthousiasme de ce projet à fort enjeu business.

Vos missions

Développer la présence de Markel sur le marché français et constituer un portefeuille durable générateur de croissance rentable

Développer l’activité de souscription Financial Lines sur les marchés transactionnels et les marchés de délégations et de facilités

Contribuer à l’évolution continue des produits de la ligne (structures, documentation contractuelle et proposition de valeur)

Participer activement au développement commercial auprès des courtiers français, en entretenant des relations de long terme et en identifiant de nouvelles opportunités de partenariats stratégiques

Travailler en étroite collaboration avec l’équipe dirigeante pour challenger et affiner la stratégie dans une logique de construction et d’amélioration continue

Effectuer des déplacements ponctuels en France et en Europe afin de rencontrer nos partenaires et interlocuteurs clés du marché

Votre profil

Expérience significative sur le marché français des lignes financières (secteurs sociétés commerciales et institutions financières)

Maîtrise du français et anglais professionnel indispensable à l’écrit comme à l’oral

Esprit entrepreneurial, approche terrain et sens des responsabilités

Esprit ouvert, innovant et orienté solutions, avec une bonne compréhension des mécanismes du marché et des enjeux économiques associés
