Profile
Contribute to the identification of the neural network (engram cells) underlying the switch from pathological traumatic memory (post-traumatic stress disorder -PTSD-like) to normative (contextualized) fear memory and vice versa. Using the most advanced technologies in neuroscience, e.g. transgenic -FosTRAP2- mice, chemogenetics, optogenetics, cellular imaging, the assistant engineer will investigate the fate and representation of the “memory engram” during the formation, prevention and normalization of the trauma representation.
Required skills
Behavioral approaches in mice, stereotaxic surgery, histological and immunohistochemical approaches. The work is founded by a Brain & Behaviour Research Foundation (BBRF) distinguished grant (“Treating or preventing PTSD-like memory by the manipulation of its specific underlying engram cells”) starting in
April 2026
and will also involve the use of optogenetics and chemogenetics techniques that can be acquired by the candidate within the team.
