Senior Process Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

Working on both projects and bid proposals, the Senior Process Engineer is responsible for the process design of equipment systems, or parts thereof.

Responsibilities include developing a process design meeting the proposal or project requirements, delivering design phase outputs on schedule and quality, providing technical support throughout project and bid lifecycles, and undertaking other technical tasks such as site surveys, feasibility studies and sales support.

Collaborates closely with team members and functional disciplines to ensure successful delivery of the project or bid scope.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety & Environment

Ensure plant designs are safe and environmental impacts considered.

Participate in design reviews and risk assessments.

Comply with local legislation and regulations such as the EU Machinery Directive.

Act safely outside the office environment.

Process Design Tasks

Generate process solutions and define their characteristics: process flowsheets, P&ID diagrams, equipment specs, equipment list, process descriptions, functional design specs, operating instructions, KPIs, product input/output requirements, utilities requirements.

Adhere to SPX Flow procedures, using applicable tools and design standards.

Complete design calculations supporting process design and equipment selection.

Ensure tasks meet the project schedule, required quality and allocated budget.

Design Ownership

Ensure the design is functional and executed in line with applicable legislation, customer requirements, SPX references, standards and best practices.

Document consistency: common standards for P&ID, FDS, equipment catalogues.

Integrate coherently and define external interfaces.

Consider economic factors to deliver on budget.

Communication & Team Working

Undertake technical discussions with customers and suppliers.

Attend relevant meetings: launch, progress reviews, design reviews.

Communicate information to stakeholders timely.

Support other disciplines during the design phase and during site execution (installation, commissioning, acceptance testing, KPI trials).

Assist hand‑over of design information to the aftermarket team.

Documentation

Prepare process operating instructions, O&M manuals, spares lists and technical files.

Maintain design information in a structured, accessible location.

Additional Sales Support & Proposal Tasks

Attend pre‑contact customer meetings.

Undertake pre‑contract studies (feasibility, utilization, site surveys).

Review technical aspects of quotation text.

Lead Engineer Role (if allocated)

Lead multi‑disciplinary team and deliver overall design outputs.

Generate and maintain engineering phase schedule, identify resource needs and manage team members.

Establish and maintain consistent design and documentation standards.

Ensure required reviews and meetings are completed and actions closed.

Ensure compliance with SPX Flow processes and procedures.
