This position demands the technical precision of a CTO, the strategic vision to catalyze transformational shifts, and the commitment to use those capabilities to unlock student achievement on an unprecedented scale.

Unlike most organizations that treat AI as an add‑on, we have reconstructed the school model from first principles, leveraging AI and learning science to eliminate the limitations inherent in traditional classrooms. Our students do not simply progress — they excel, earning multiple 4s and 5s on AP examinations, demonstrating multi‑year academic advancement within a single year, and repeatedly surpassing their own projected outcomes.

This is not a conventional product management position centered on iterative feature releases or customer feedback cycles. It is an executive‑level technical product ownership role, in which you will own the architectural direction, technical strategy, and AI integration across our complete learning ecosystem. You will make critical technical tradeoffs that ensure our platforms remain lean, scalable, and unwaveringly centered on enhancing student results.

What You Will Be Doing

Cultivating and applying comprehensive education product expertise to inform strategic direction.

Authoring technical specifications that resolve critical technical decisions while prioritizing simplicity, efficiency, and sustainability.

Deploying generative AI capabilities to automate and optimize engineering workflows, consistent with the strategic objective of minimizing manual effort.

Spending time in meetings, committees, or bureaucratic processes; we have streamlined management overhead to enable you to concentrate on delivering business value through direct execution.

Vice President Of Product Engineering Key Responsibilities

Serve as the CTO for one or more education products, owning foundational capabilities and generating business value through flawless execution and strategic leadership.

Basic Requirements

Substantial experience or passion for data‑driven learning science.

7+ years of experience driving critical architecture and design decisions on software initiatives, including the application of architecture design patterns or major open source technologies.

2+ years of experience making design decisions that incorporate cloud computing services (primarily AWS).

4+ years of experience in roles with complete technical and delivery accountability for a revenue‑generating product.

Track record of building product features that leverage advanced Generative AI capabilities.

Demonstrated use of Generative AI to streamline operational processes.

Working With Us This is a full‑time (40 hours per week), long‑term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record.
