Offer Description
Zebra4Cure is structured in two phases, aiming to establish a zebrafish facility and develop innovative experimental platform for translational research. The project includes:
Phase 1: Preparation and technical installation of facilities and equipment
Phase 2: Operational start-up and day-to-day management of the facility
The post holder will play a key role in scientific and operational coordination, commissioning, technical and regulatory management, and user support for the Zebra4Cure facility.
Main Responsibilities
Operational Management of the Zebra4Cure Facility
Oversee the Zebra4Cure project from facility setup to full operational management.
Define and monitor the pricing system for services offered by the facility.
Collaborate with other platforms within ZEFIX to harmonize practices and share resources.
Track performance indicators, prepare reports, and highlight scientific outputs.
Regulatory and Administrative Coordination
Ensure compliance of the facility and activities with the DDPP and other relevant authorities.
Support the establishment and monitoring of the Animal Welfare Structure (SBEA).
Follow up on authorization requests and experimental project files (DAP, permits).
Draft and maintain regulatory documentation and facility records.
Participate in internal and external audits.
Animal and Technical Management
Supervise zebrafish breeding and lineage management (reproduction, feeding, traceability).
Monitor key welfare parameters and maintain aquaculture equipment.
Develop and implement operational, maintenance, and safety protocols.
Manage equipment, consumables, and supplies.
Training and User Support
Train new users on best practices and proper use of the facility.
Manage and update the user competency records.
Ensure researchers and students follow protocols and standards.
The position is structured over two years with evolving responsibilities according to facility commissioning.
At the end of the initial two-year period, implementation of a service pricing system is expected to generate internal revenue, contributing to partial funding of the position.
Advanced degree in experimental biology, biomedical sciences, or equivalent (Masterโs level, Bac+5).
Expertise in the breeding and handling of animal models, preferably zebrafish.
Knowledge of animal experimentation standards and regulations, including containment levels (A1/A2, L2).
Experience in microscopy, functional exploration, or translational research techniques is a plus.
Project Management and Coordination Skills
Proven experience in managing scientific projects, planning, and coordinating activities.
Ability to manage budgets, contribute to funding applications, and monitor performance indicators.
Capacity to interface with multidisciplinary teams (scientific, technical, administrative, regulatory).
Strong organizational skills and rigor in implementing protocols and monitoring installations.
Interpersonal Skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills; report and protocol writing.
Ability to train and support users in experimental and regulatory best practices.
Initiative, autonomy, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Specific Requirements
Work in a controlled aquatic environment.
Regular handling of animals and specialized materials.
Working hours may include on-call duties depending on facility needs.
