Description du Poste

Organisation/Company JUNIA Research Field Biological sciences Researcher Profile First Stage Researcher (R1) Positions Postdoc Positions Application Deadline 15 Mar 2026 - 18:00 (Europe/Brussels) Country France Type of Contract Temporary Job Status Full-time Is the job funded through the EU Research Framework Programme? Other EU programme Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? Yes

Offer Description Junia seeks a talented

post‑doctoral researcher (H/F)

to develop new BioMEMS tools dedicated to human health concern.

Context of research project Periodontitis is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults, with serious consequences for patients' quality of life. This disease affects more than 1.5 million citizens and costs more than 4 billion Eur in healthcare expenditure per year in the France, Wallonia, Flanders Interreg region. To effectively treat periodontitis, the European HEALTHY TEETH project will tackle 3 targets: 1) bad bacteria, 2) gum inflammation, 3) bone loss. This requires highly complementary skills & know‑how. Importantly, our project brings together the strengths of clinicians (experts in periodontitis), chemists, pharmacists, materials specialists, engineers (able to develop in vitro tests to identify the best active ingredients) and companies, who translate innovative technologies into concrete products.

Objectives Based on impedance spectroscopy, the postdoc will aim to develop new BioMEMS devices to identify the best active drugs (and their kinetics) for bone and gum regeneration. The main activities of the candidate will consist in (i)

designing a microelectronic device

adapted to the needs of the project, based on an analysis platform currently being developed in the laboratory (TRL3 to TRL5), (ii)

manufacturing the new version of the device in a clean room

and (iii)

testing it in cell culture laboratory

to define the efficacy of new treatments. This last phase will include the adaptation of bone and gum cell culture in devices and the implementation of trials to test the therapeutic molecules supplied by the European partners.

These experimental aspects (technological and biological) will be made possible by the

integration of the post doc candidate in IEMN

(Institut d'Electronique, de Microélectronique et Nanotechnologies, UMR CNRS-8520 https://www.iemn.fr/en/ ). The device manufacturing phase will take place in the institute's clean room. The testing phase, involving cell cultures and analysis of compounds active on the bone matrix, will be carried out in the IEMN biology laboratory classified as level L2.

Candidate profile

The candidate must have a strong interest in experimental work and MEMS design.

He/she will have experience in MEMS development (i.e. working on photolithography in a clean room).

Cell culture skills would be an asset but are not mandatory (on‑site training can be provided by biologists).

The candidate must be able to work both independently and in a collaborative environment.

Good communication skills and a good knowledge of English are required, as the candidate will disseminate results to the research community as well as to the project's European partners.

Required qualifications

PhD in Textile Engineering, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field

Proven experience with electrospinning techniques

Strong background in polymer chemistry, hydrogels, nanofibers

Experience in medical textile applications is highly desirable

Autonomous, motivated, and collaborative

Languages ENGLISH Level Excellent

Years of Research Experience 1 - 4

How to Apply Please send your CV, motivation letter, and a list of publications.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Early applications are encouraged.
