Senior Embedded Software Development Engineer - Air‑Ground Datalink Systems (m/f) Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Senior Embedded Software Development Engineer - Air‑Ground Datalink Systems to join our Avionics Software team in Toulouse, France.

You will actively drive and participate in the detailed design, coding, and verification (up to DAL C) of real‑time software modules for our datalink systems, ensuring full compliance with communication standards (ATN, ACARS, CPDLC). Your expertise will be instrumental in the development, production, and support of critical embedded products for all Airbus aircraft.

Your challenges In‑Depth Expertise in Avionics Datalink Standards (Mandatory)

Practical mastery of ATN and ACARS protocols, including detailed knowledge of ARINC 618 and ARINC 619 specifications.

Experience with Data Serialization (ASN.1) for complex message processing, specifically CPDLC PDUs.

Data Serialization (ASN.1)

Essential practical experience using ASN.1 to define, encode, and decode complex ATC messages (CPDLC PDUs).

Develop embedded real‑time software from high‑level specification to integration and validation on definitive hardware.

Ensure end‑to‑end integration of software with target hardware and advanced test benches (Bus Analyzers, Radio Link Simulators).

Act as the technical subject‑matter specialist on ATN/ACARS protocols and Data Serialization, mentoring junior team members.

Support activities: failure report analysis, technical request responses.

Improve ways of working, introduce new design solutions and technologies.

Define, follow‑up, and receive subcontracted activities and deliverables in conformity with subcontracting rules.

Manage activities within schedule, budget and quality expectations.

Participate in departmental performance improvement.

Your boarding pass

In‑depth knowledge and practical experience with ATN and ACARS protocols and architectures.

Mastery of Data Serialization techniques, notably ASN.1, and processing complex ATC messages (e.g., CPDLC PDUs).

Familiarity with ARINC 618 and ARINC 619 specifications.

Required skills and experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in critical real‑time software development with proven familiarity with the DO‑178C certification process.

Experience in critical real‑time embedded software development and certification (DO178C, DAL A to E).

Mastery of the C language for embedded development, including memory and real‑time performance optimization.

Solid experience with software engineering practices and tools (version control, continuous integration, standard DevOps workflows) in a high‑integrity setting.

Open mindset, good communication skills and strong teamwork.

Additional assets

Embedded security awareness: understanding of security challenges in air‑ground data link communications.

Familiarity with avionics security standards (ED‑202A/DO326A, ED‑203A/DO356A).

Excellent interpersonal skills and recognised team player.

Advanced level of English and French required.

This position requires a security clearance or eligibility for clearance by the recognized authorities.
