Chubb – Underwriting Portfolio Analyst EMEA.
Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to facilitate efficient underwriting analysis while developing and maintaining the underwriting MI strategy to support growth, enhance retention, and help identify underwriting strategies that safeguard profit margins. Key functions include data analysis and data management, producing regular MI, maintaining rate tables and relativities, and supporting underwriting with portfolio management, training, product development, governance & pricing.
Key Responsibilities
Data analysis and data management
Enhance existing data and MI to improve rating and monitoring to support decision‑making.
Ensure new data is explored and stored with quality and accessibility, preventing data loss.
Analyze and review available data to perform profitability analysis, interpret results, and communicate findings to key stakeholders.
Collaborate with the analytics team to monitor new schemes’ performance and maintain up‑to‑date insights.
Liaise with BI, underwriting, claims, finance, operations and IT functions.
Pricing
Collaborate with predictive analytics, actuarial and data management teams to develop and drive global data strategies that improve pricing sophistication, data management, analytics, rate optimization, and management reporting.
Data‑led portfolio management
Support portfolio management, including segmentation and analysis of portfolio performance.
Identify poorly performing segments and review overhead and acquisition expenses, claim reports/activity and producer performance.
Projects, data initiatives, and product development
Support regional and Head Office underwriting project initiatives.
Support product development initiatives alongside underwriting.
Integrate and consolidate underwriting profitability, pricing segmentation and revenue maximization models to optimize yield management and sustainable profit.
Collaborate with global and regional digital underwriting and analytics teams to accelerate and optimize digital distribution.
Best practices & training
Collaborate with COG and analytic teams to develop and implement global best practices for data analytics, rating models and rate optimization.
Develop, implement and maintain underwriting guidelines, policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Proficiency in Excel, Dataiku, Python and Power BI.
2+ years of insurance experience, ideally in a business/data analyst role or equivalent technical role.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
Undergraduate degree in Data Science, Mathematics or a similarly numerate subject.
Ability to manage tight deadlines and priorities and provide high‑quality service to clients, internal and external.
Desire to work in a global insurance environment.
Fluency in English.
