Ascenz Marorka is seeking an Analyst Officer for its Vessels Weather Routing Operational Center.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Gather all necessary data 72h-24h before vessel departure (Tracking, SatComs, vessel Characteristics, and Operational Constraints) to calculate optimal routes and speeds using Ascenz Marorka weather routing software.

Provide meteorological and oceanographical forecasts and observations to vessels.

Analyze forecast and observation data to produce post-voyage reports and support claim management when necessary.

Contribute feedback to Ascenz Marorka software and assist with operational tasks to enhance processes.

Advise captains on Passage Planning before departure and during ocean crossings.

Assist captains in accessing the Ascenz Marorka website and support setup for calculations.

Input parameters based on captains' preferences as needed.

Monitor vessel safety during storms and tropical depressions.

Compare routes of vessels under similar conditions.

Manage fuel consumption during voyages and coordinate with captains to optimize voyage budgets.

Use Ascenz Marorka software to optimize vessel routes.

Incorporate vessel observations to comment on Metocean forecasts.

PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES Required:

At least 2 years of navigation officer experience within the last 4 years, including Passage Planning preparations.

At least 4 years as Officer of the Watch on transoceanic vessels (TransAtlantic, TransPacific crossings).

Practical experience with weather routing software or services.

Strong feedback from navigation in rough seas.

Preferred:

Experience in a Vessel Weather Routing Center or Operations Monitoring Center.

Experience on vessels such as gas carriers, tankers, container ships, bulk carriers, or passenger vessels.

Experience with various maritime companies.

Second Officer or engineering experience (second or chief engineer).

Certified degree in meteorology and/or oceanography.

Proficiency in languages other than English and French.

IT skills including practical use of sea-keeping software and operational software for testing and commenting on new IT products.

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS Required:

Ability to listen and strictly consider captains' requirements to monitor a fleet of vessels at sea within contractual obligations.

Autonomous in initiating contact with captains via satellite phone for issues like overspeeding, route deviations, or fuel monitoring.

Self-control to maintain excellent relationships despite stressful sea conditions.

Impartial reporting of critical events or difficult relationships with vessels.

Advantages:

Curiosity to enhance analysis with additional web data sources.

IT skills to use and improve software functionalities.

Proactive in providing advice to captains at sea.

Ability to produce constructive feedback for future improvements.

CONTRACT & BENEFITS Permanent contract

The package includes:

Base salary ranging from €55,000 to €65,000.

Individual target bonus (20%).

Profit-sharing (15%) + (8%).

Company contribution of €3700 to savings plan.
