The Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) is an intergovernmental agency operating under the framework of the OECD. It facilitates cooperation among countries with advanced nuclear technology infrastructures to pursue excellence in nuclear safety, technology, science, and related environmental and economic matters. NEA’s mission is to assist its 34 member countries in maintaining and further developing the scientific, technological and legal bases required for a safe, environmentally sound and economical use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
The Division of Nuclear Technology Development and Economics (NTE) provides the Secretariat for and implements the programme of work of the Committee for Technical and Economic Studies on Nuclear Energy Development and the Fuel Cycle (NDC). The NDC examines all aspects affecting nuclear development, including the role of nuclear energy in the overall energy mix of member countries.
Job Description
Main Responsibilities
Participate in the preparation and meetings of the NDC, relevant working parties and events, including the preparation of the NEA’s annual Roadmaps to New Nuclear Ministerial Meeting with invitations, meeting documents and logistical preparations.
Support the NEA’s workforce initiative Plan 2035 for early outreach to students interested in STEM careers related to nuclear energy, including initiative materials, website management and student engagement strategies.
Assist the Head of the NTE Division in all aspects of “Advice to Policymakers,” such as drafting notes, preparing presentations, organising events and other related tasks.
Research and collect data for NTE studies and reports.
Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of country energy policy and investments, focusing on nuclear’s role in future low‑carbon energy strategies.
Draft and prepare reports.
Carry out any other related duties as assigned by senior staff or management.
Qualifications
Ideal Candidate Profile
Academic Background
Bachelor’s degree in economics, energy policy, nuclear engineering, power system engineering or natural sciences.
Professional Background
At least two years of experience analysing clean energy systems.
Understanding of nuclear energy as a dispatchable low‑carbon baseload provider and its challenges and opportunities in modern low‑carbon electricity systems.
Experience leading, managing and concluding research projects in energy analysis.
Experience synthesising, drafting and publishing analytical or modelling results for varied audiences, including experts, policymakers and the public.
Experience organising and coordinating international workshops and large‑scale events.
Excellent command of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Core Competencies

Languages
Fluency in one of the OECD’s official languages (English or French) and knowledge of the other, with a commitment to achieve a good working level.

Contract Duration
12‑month fixed‑term appointment, with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum of 36 months.
What the OECD Offers
Monthly salary starts at 4 556.74 EUR, plus allowances based on eligibility, exempt of French income tax.
Consult staff regulations applicable to officials of the OECD (appointments under new contractual modalities from 1 July 2025).

Appointment may be made at one grade lower based on qualifications and experience.
