Brunel are urgently looking to recruit a Health & Safety Coordinator (as per Spanish Royal Decree 1627/1997) with experience in the Oil & Gas sector for a contract position, yard based in Catalonia region, Spain. Working for a major EPC on a major project, this role starts 5th January 2026 and is expected until April 2027.
You will be involved in the implementation of general prevention and safety principles and coordinate activities to ensure that contractors, subcontractors, and self-employed workers apply preventive measures consistently and responsibly.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate the implementation of general prevention and safety principles, especially regarding technical and organizational decisions for planning simultaneous or successive work phases.
Coordinate activities to ensure that contractors, subcontractors, and self-employed workers apply preventive measures consistently and responsibly.
Approve the Health and Safety Plan prepared by the contractor and any modifications.
Organize coordination of business activities as required by law.
Coordinate actions and control methods to ensure correct application of safe working methods.
Take necessary measures to ensure only authorized persons access the site.
Maintain the โIncidence Bookโ (Libro de incidencias) for recording safety observations and incidents.
Notify labour authorities of any serious breaches or imminent risks.
Suspend work if there is a serious and imminent risk to workersโ health and safety.
Ensure communication and coordination among all parties involved in the construction site.
Requirements:
Good knowledge of Spanish and English language
Experience gained in Spain and familiar with Spanish regulations
Familiar with Spanish Royal Decree 1627/1997
Advance PRL training certificate for the function of H&S Coordinator (Minimum 200 hours)
Registered to the Engineers collective association
Willing to work for a project starting from the Execution phase
Conditions:
Work Schedule: 56 hours/week (Mon-Fri: 10 hrs/day, Sat: 6 hrs)
Location: Yard-based Catalonia Area, Spain
