Descripción del Puesto
Senior FPGA Engineer (Lead Architect)
– Barcelona (Hybrid Contract Role)
Lead FPGA architecture for a commercial synchronization platform powering quantum computing, 6G communications, and next-generation measurement systems.
We’re hiring a Senior FPGA Engineer to join an international R&D team in Barcelona developing a high-precision synchronization solution used in advanced research and emerging technologies worldwide.
This is a true hybrid leadership role:
✔ Own the FPGA architecture vision
✔ Drive hands-on implementation
✔ Coordinate across global engineering teams
Contract Structure
Initial 6-month contract (ASAP start), with strong likelihood of extension to 12 months+ based on performance and project roadmap continuity.
The Role
You’ll operate at the intersection of architecture, development, and technical leadership — shaping the FPGA direction while remaining actively involved in implementation.
What You’ll Do
Architectural Leadership
Collaborate with the Product Owner to translate product vision into scalable, robust FPGA architectures that integrate seamlessly with broader hardware and software systems.
Hands-On FPGA Development
Actively contribute to SystemVerilog-based implementation, extending product capabilities for next-generation timing and synchronization applications.
Technical Coordination
Align architecture and execution across multiple projects and distributed teams, ensuring delivery consistency and technical quality.
Stakeholder Engagement
Lead technical discussions, build cross-functional consensus, and translate real partner needs into architecturally sound solutions.
✅ What We’re Looking For
BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (FPGA focus preferred)
7+ years in digital electronics, including significant experience as an FPGA architect
Strong SystemVerilog expertise
Experience with FPGA validation, simulation, and static timing analysis
Familiarity with Xilinx devices and Vivado toolchain
Deep understanding of FPGA block/IP core integration within complex systems
Ability to operate at both architectural and implementation levels
Why This Role?
Architectural ownership of a commercial, globally deployed product
High-complexity FPGA challenges in precision timing & synchronization
Direct impact on breakthrough research and emerging technologies
International collaboration in a technically ambitious R&D environment
Long-term technical influence starting with a structured 6-month engagement
