Manager Global SAP Release

to join the Global SAP CoE of a leading multinational in sustainable packaging solutions (corrugated cardboard & paper). This is a strategic role responsible for planning, governing, and orchestrating SAP releases across global platforms, ensuring secure, timely, and disruption‑free delivery. The position leads a team of

two SAP Release Experts

across EMEA/APAC and the Americas, and involves quarterly travel to the Global SAP CoE hubs in France or Mexico. This role is ideal for a senior SAP professional with proven experience in end‑to‑end release management, governance frameworks, and coordination of cross‑functional SAP & IT teams in complex enterprise environments.

Role Scope You will be part of the

SAP Solutions department within the Global SAP CoE , overseeing global release governance and ensuring alignment with programs, projects, operations, and business priorities across multiple regions.

Key Responsibilities Define and implement the global SAP release management framework, differentiating support, BPIs, and major project releases. Establish release cycles, versioning strategies, and deployment methodologies. Ensure alignment with technical roadmaps, audit requirements, and change‑control standards. Provide leadership and direction to Release Experts, promoting collaboration and consistency. Set standardized release cycles for functional & technical changes to ensure stability. Coordinate with Operations, Product Managers, Development Factory, and Testing teams to deliver BAU releases. Improve release automation, predictability, and process transparency. Integrate reléase planning into large SAP transformation programs and projects. Work with Program Managers, Solution Architects, Basis, and QA teams on cutovers, risk assessment, and rollback strategies. Coordinate execution with System Integrators and external partners. Manage incident escalations, rollback plans, and post‑release validations. Conduct post‑implementation reviews and drive continuous improvement actions. Maintain full visibility and reporting on readiness, risks, and issue resolution.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience 5+ years managing large‑scale release planning in complex SAP or IT environments. Proven experience in SAP landscapes ( S/4HANA, ECC, BTP ) in enterprise-scale delivery. Strong understanding of release management frameworks, versioning, deployment governance. Solid knowledge of SAP architecture, integration points, and security controls. Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross‑functional teams and vendors in global environments.
