Quaker Houghton is a global publicly traded company with a unique collaborative culture that supports career growth for its colleagues and offers competitive compensation and benefit programs.About the JobAn excellent opportunity to join the EMEA EHS team in a position where you will be able to engage with production, office and lab teams to promote our EHS standards to ensure sustainability and the drive for continuous improvement.This role will support our manufacturing operations in Barcelona area and our in‑house technicians based at our customer sites in Spain. As the Barberà del Valles site is SEVESO and ISO 14001 certified, the position requires strong knowledge of industrial and EHS legislation, hazardous materials management, and risk control in chemical‑handling environments.Safety is the core of our culture. Perform EHSQ audits/inspections and ensure appropriate corrective actions are developed and implemented on a timely basis.Provide support of appropriate occupational hygiene related policies and programs.Support implementation of the Company’s EHS management systems strategy (ISO14001 and 45001)Provide EHS knowledge, guidance, coaching and training to establish a positive progressive EHS culture. Act as a key resource for EHS training requirements.Become the technical expert to implement the Corporate EHS online training systemServe as a technical resource in the coordination of emergency preparedness on the site.Work closely with the Regional EHS Manager, Local/Regional Engineering, site operations and the external firms to effectively identify and manage loss prevention issues.Coordinate with Operations/Engineering personnel work around MOC processes.Coordinate with Local/Regional Engineering on any facility construction/demolition projectsSupervise EHS consultants and contractors hired to perform EHS services such as EHS legal compliance audit, samples collection, noise measurements, air emissions, industrial hygiene testing, fit testing, etc.Interact with regulatory agencies during compliance inspections. Responds to written correspondence and inquiries from outside regulatory agenciesAnalyze and interpret regulatory requirements and permit conditions that apply to Quaker Houghton operations (manufacturing locations and chemical management activities) and work closely with plant management to address EHS requirements and concerns.Coordinate with other members of EHS department at EMEA, specially from the other Spanish facilities.Support EHS activities and risk management across Fluidcare sites in Spain, involving travel as neededWhat do we look for?Experience: 3–5 years in EHS roles with strong safety focus; ideally in chemical, oil & gas, food, or related manufacturing industriesExperience in industrial EHS legislation, chemical handling environments, and hazardous material risk managementPrior exposure to SEVESO, high‑risk industrial environments, or similar regulations is a strong plusEducation:Bachelor's degree is a must. Advanced certification, additional specialized environment and safety education is desired but not required.Technical skills: Solid understanding of regional/national EHS regulatory requirements.Knowledge of and some implementation experience with applicable industry standards including but not limited to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, Responsible Care, etc.Solid technical and regulatory expertise in relevant regional and national product safety/stewardship regulatory requirements and associated management systems and programs.Process risk management best practices.Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis skills.Ability to interpret and apply hazardous materials legislation, storage and handling rules, and industrial risk controls.Language: High-level Spanish and English (spoken and written)IT skills: MS Office, MS Teams, O365; ability to learn new systems quickly (e.g. Nintex)Location:Ideally based in the Vallès area, BarcelonaWillingness to travel across customer sites in Spain - driver's license requiredSoft skills:Autonomous and proactiveStrong communication and listening skillsPractical problem-solving with strong attention to detailTeam-oriented and committed to delivering successWho are we?We are the global leader in industrial process fluids present in 40+ countries continually improving and innovating so the world’s steel, aluminum, automotive, aircraft, machinery and industrial parts manufacturers can stay ahead in a changing world.
