The mission of this role is to lead the
Research & Development function
, ensuring the development and delivery of innovative, reliable, and competitive technical solutions. The position is responsible for driving the project portfolio, securing on‑time and high‑quality execution, while developing, guiding, and coordinating the technical team to foster continuous improvement, operational excellence, and knowledge creation. This role reports directly to the Regional Plant Manager and will be based at
AHIT in Vitoria-Gasteiz

Responsabilities:
Lead the Engineering & R&D team, ensuring on‑time, full delivery of projects.
Maintain strong customer relationships and provide technical support during bids.
Collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure cost‑efficient Bills of Materials.
Drive continuous improvement of processes, tools, and methodologies.
Define R&D priorities, challenge existing designs, and ensure IP protection.
Provide technical support for type testing and product qualification.
Prepare and oversee budgets and financial plans for the area.
Plan and manage team workload, resources, and performance.
Actively contribute to the Management Team, reporting key KPIs.
Promote best practices and develop training plans for the team.
Organize, develop, and coach team members in line with HR policies.
Ensure the highest HSE standards and proactive risk management.
Requirements:
Engineering qualification – Electrical or equivalent, > 5 years’ experience in Electrification, Power generation, transmission or distribution in a similar role, preferably related to High or Medium Voltage Transformers.
Proven experience, > 3 years, managing people and teams.
Proficient in Project Management and Product Development techniques with proven experience in this field.
Awareness of Instrument Transformers technology, safety and IEC/IEEE applicable standards.
Knowledge in design IT tools is preferred for mechanical, electrical and associated simulation tools.
Advanced computer skills across MS Office, MS Teams, Outlook, SharePoint.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, high attention to detail.
Fluent in English (at C1 level or superior).
Expresses opinions and able to work with multiple stakeholders and positions.
Self-starter, flexible, dynamic, challenging and enthusiastic character.
