Senior Automation, I&C Engineer - Energy and Waste Sector (Barcelona)

We are looking for a Lead Automation, I&C Engineer with extensive experience in Automation, Instrumentation and Control of process plants to lead Automation, I&C design in energy and waste-to-energy projects. This role offers the opportunity to join a growing engineering company with a solid portfolio of national and international projects, working across the full lifecycle of industrial installations — from concept and detailed engineering to construction, commissioning and start-up. You will be involved in the engineering and development of: Hydrogen, methanol and SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) projects Waste-to-energy plants Biomass conversion systems Gasification and thermal treatment technologies

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Design Lead and coordinate Automation, I&C engineering activities for industrial energy projects. P&IDs Monitoring and Control system architecture, including hardware and software, based on SIEMENS Tia Portal. Prepare instrumentation and control equipment data sheets and technical specifications. Develop Bills of Materials (BOM) and support procurement processes. Coordinate with process, mechanical and electrical engineering teams.

Construction & Commissioning Provide technical support and on-site supervision during installation and commissioning. Participate in control system testing, loop checks and plant commissioning. Ensures that Automation, I&C systems are installed and operated according to design specifications.

Requirements

~5+ years of experience in process plant Automation, I&C engineering

in projects such as Waste-to-energy plants, Biomass and thermal treatment plants, Hydrogen and e-fuels facilities, Chemical and petrochemical plants, Industrial process plants. ~ Proven ability to lead and coordinate engineering teams. ~ English level B2 or higher. ~ Excellent communication and team coordination abilities. ~ Availability for occasional travel.
