Senior Application Engineer – Fiber Access
ROLE DESCRIPTION
Senior Application Engineer – is the Senior Technical application lead for Technetix Fiber Access products and systems and covers the following
The technical evaluation, validation, and acceptance of all fiber access products including optical actives, optical passives and software systems.
Liaising with technology partners and suppliers to ensure parts received meet Technetix requirements and specifications.
Collaborating with Technetix engineering teams to provide support and guidance for in house developed products and systems – software and hardware.
Preparing and presenting technical reports to internal teams, technology partners and customers.
Training internal teams, technology partners and customers in how to install, configure and test fiber access products and systems.
Providing guidance to Technetix quality organization on how to test and validate conformance of Fiber Access products.
Supporting the sales engineering teams in customer demos and evaluations and field trials.
As part of the product management team the role primarily involves onboarding in house developed as well as third party developed fiber access products and solutions. It also includes supporting Technetix customers in concert with Technetix sales and support engineering teams and collaborating with partners providing in depth technical support during demonstrations, evaluations, trials and pilots, and network builds and operation.
The Senior Application Engineer – Fiber Access is a key role to assist in the technical selection and validation of Technetix fibre access products and solutions and requires broad experience and industry knowledge and know-how and includes (not limited to)
interoperability and conformance to ITU, IETF, Cablelabs and BBF standards and technical recommendations
thermal evaluations
system performance
system configuration, operation and general useability
hardware design best practice – critical parts placement, connectivity, external look and feel, robustness, system useability
test systems and test rigs
KEY RESPONSIBILITES

Supporting izzi in the roll out of the rOLT, including technical support as part of Technetix technical support team
OLT/Switch Software Development
Working with the Technetix software development team (Bilbao, Spain) to improve the functionality and robustness of the PON controller software, ass siting with testing, system configurations and access to systems in VDL, Denver etc.
rOLT 2
Assist and contribute to the next generation rOLT that will support GPON, XGS-PON and Combo PON, including collaborating with partners, specifying and implementing test, validation and acceptance plans. This also includes supporting lab n=builds based on pre-production reference builds
ONU
Support the OBU/ONT/HGU PLM in specifying and implementing test, validation and acceptance plans.
Interoperability
Combine with sales engineering (Ylli, Nick, Igal etc) and Technetix software development team (Bilbao, Spain) and lead Technetix OLT and ONU interoperability capability utilising OLT and test equipment assets.
Test Rig
Working with Technetix software development team (Bilbao, Spain) develop test rigs and systems for the test and validation of Technetix PON system operation at scale including full loading of OLTs and PON controller to validate performance and operation
rOLT Customer Prospects (Germany, USA, LATAM, Netherlands)
Support next group of rOLT and rOLT 2 customers including customer specific configurations that incorporate GPON, XGS-PON and Combo PON
QUALIFICATIONS
Practical experience of building, configuring and testing PIN systems, including understanding of the appropriate technical standards and recommendations and how to test and validate.
Degree / HND in telecommunications, semiconductors, photonics, or electronic and electrical engineering.
Written and verbal communication skills – concise and accurate.
Language skills – English and Spanish ideal. Chinese language skills beneficial.
