Seats & Motion Division
within the
ITW Automotive
Segment delivers highly differentiated, precision-engineered plastic solutions to our “80” global OEMs & Tiers across North America and Europe through customer back innovation, targeted at addressing the emerging pain points associated with passenger seating & comfort, and ensuring best-in-class quality & delivery through our commitment to 80/20 operational excellence.
Position Summary:
Designs, maintains, improves, releases and reviews products design for tooling and manufacturing feasibility in line with customer specifications.
Responsibilities:
Design automotive parts and systems to meet customer expectations, specifications, within budgets and deadlines.
Research and recommend materials for new applications if not directed by customer.
Understands manufacturing processes, incorporates processes into designs that can be successfully manufactured.
Understand test procedures and conduct testing where applicable.
Responsible for design/product validation according to specifications.
Analyzes and interprets technical data.
Manages and controls all prints electronically on the server. CAD Responsible.
Document and manages all engineering changes driven by customer, internally.
Assists and understands the corrective action process related to manufacturing and design.
Responsible for tool adjustment loops and gloss and graining implementation.
Responsible for providing project updates at scheduled team meetings.
Reviews customer and ITW designs for tooling and product functional feasibility, and reports results back to the Project Managers and Sales in a customer ready format (i.e. Power Point presentation.)
Acts as the internal and external trusted advisor to develop or improve current and new product designs.
Applies ITW Toolbox to assure proper execution of projects from the design to manufacturing.
Lead Design FMEA from a product expertise perspective.
Support to Advanced Quality on gauges design.
Responsible to manage sampling request (SPI) to Production according project development needs.
Responsible/control of Engineering warehouse.
Position Skills and Experience Requirements:
B.S. in Engineering or Engineering Technology, with an emphasis in Mechanical Engineering/Industrial design Engineering or equivalent experience.
1-3 years’ experience of engineering and design.
Skills and experience with CATIA V5. NX, CAE, Mold Flow and Dynamic preferred.
Automotive experience is highly preferred.
Knowledgeable in plastic injection molding, assembly, and tooling technology.
Excellent organization and interpersonal skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Able to function independently, exercises sound judgment and decision making.
Must be computer literate.
Skills and experience in drawing creation for injection plastic parts
