Position Details
Position: Technical HR Officer / Manager
Location: Barcelona, Spain
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Economics, or a related field
Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Operations Management is a plus
Languages
Spanish - Professional working level (written and spoken)
English - Professional working level (written and spoken)
Previous Experience
At least 8 years of experience in financial roles (business finance, controllership, accounting, auditing, etc.)
Mandatory: proven work experience in a technology company (high-tech startup, scale-up, or tech-driven industrial company)
Mandatory: proven end-to-end ownership of Spanish and European public funding (grants and soft loans), including application, budgeting, reporting/justification, and handling audits
Experience in operations management is highly desirable
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (forecasting, budgeting, financial modelling).
Knowledge of Spanish Accounting standards
Hands-on experience managing Spanish and European public funding (documentation, reporting/justification, audits)
ERP experience (Navision, SAP, or similar) is a plus
Familiarity with operations management tools and methodologies is a plus
Personal Skills
Autonomous: capable of working proactively or with minimal supervision most of the time
Management and soft skills: capable of managing a small team
Strong organizational and operational skills
Interested in the startup world and entrepreneurship
Curious about science and technology
Proactive and goal-oriented
Job Functions
Primary
Oversee the accounting entries and the company’s accounting books, in close collaboration with an appointed external service provider
Prepare the official financial statements for the company
Lead the yearly audit process, being the primary point of contact for the auditors
Prepare regular financial reports for the Board of Directors and investors
Regularly monitor the company’s cash flow and cash position
Lead Spanish and European public funding: coordinate with external advisors, support and lead preparation of documentation to request public funding, ensure compliant reporting/justification, and manage any subsequent audits
Manage relationships with banks
Oversee labour contracts and payroll processes
Ensure tax obligations are settled in due time
Manage accounts payable and receivable
Be in charge of any other administrative tasks as necessary
Manage and optimize operational processes to enhance efficiency and productivity
Coordinate day-to-day operations, ensuring alignment with financial objectives
Secondary
Proactively search for public grants, soft loans, or other financing instruments
Review legal documents
Support and oversee other back-office operations that could affect the finance function or the entire organization (IT systems, implementation of tools such as ERPs, CRMs, etc.)
Implement operational strategies to support company growth and objectives
