Introduction We are seeking an experienced Data professional to work with Haybury and provide services to our client as a Data Source Specialist. This role focuses on the operational execution of requirements gathering and data contract creation, working closely with internal business and technical teams. The contractor will serve as a key facilitator in translating business data needs into structured, documented specifications that enable reliable data ingestion into our ecosystem.

This is an operational, execution-focused engagement. They will work under the guidance of the internal Data Factory Source Manager and

be responsible for strategic prioritisation, roadmap decisions, or organisational governance. The primary value delivered is hands-on support in requirements documentation, requirements gathering and analysis, as well as data contract drafting, allowing internal teams to scale their capacity.

Duties and Responsibilities

Requirements Gathering and Documentation Engage with business stakeholders and source system owners to elicit and document data requirements for ingestion projects. Translate business needs into clear, structured data specifications including field definitions, data types, business rules, and quality expectations. Maintain up-to-date requirements documentation in agreed tools and formats, ensuring traceability between business needs and technical specifications. Support workshops and working sessions with business analysts, domain experts, and data engineers to clarify and validate requirements.

Data Contract Creation and Maintenance Draft data contracts based on input from internal stakeholders, source system owners, and existing documentation templates. Capture key contract attributes including source metadata, field-level specifications, SLAs, data quality rules, and compliance notes. Support the versioning and change tracking of data contracts throughout the ingestion lifecycle. Coordinate with data engineers and business teams to review and refine contract drafts, ensuring alignment before approval.

Coordination and Communication Support Facilitate communication between source system owners and internal data teams during the requirements and contract definition phases. Track open items, action points, and approval statuses across active data ingestion initiatives. Flag risks or blockers to the internal Source Manager for timely resolution. Active project reporting and status tracking through JIRA.

Requirements and Skills

Experience 3–5 years of experience in data management, business analysis, or data integration roles. Proven hands-on experience in requirements gathering and documentation within data or Business Intelligence projects. Prior experience drafting or working with data contracts, data dictionaries, or data sharing agreements is strongly preferred. Background working in environments with multiple data sources, ETL/ELT pipelines, or data warehouse platforms.

Technical Skills Solid understanding of data architecture concepts, data modeling, and relational databases. Familiarity with data integration patterns (batch, real-time, APIs, file transfers). Basic SQL proficiency for data exploration and validation. Experience with documentation and collaboration tools (e.g., Confluence, JIRA, SharePoint).

Soft Skills Strong communication skills with ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences. Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple workstreams simultaneously. Self-starter with a proactive approach to identifying gaps and following up on open items. Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams. Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus. Open-minded and eager to investigate and adapt to new systems and technologies.
