Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking expressions of interest from qualified psychiatrists with an expertise or interest in working at the Adult Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Clinic based at the Joseph & Rosalie Segal & Family Health Centre for 0.1-0.2 FTE positions.
In accordance with the standards of practice and the established vision and values of VCH, the psychiatrist who accepts this position will assess, diagnose and provide specialized treatment for adults with ADHD across the VCH and Providence Health Care region.
The psychiatrist works in collaboration with general practitioners, other psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, research assistants, clients and their families to provide comprehensive adult ADHD care and treatment. The psychiatrist will serve as a resource in symptom management of ADHD with a strong knowledge base in psychopharmacology. Reporting to the Regional Medical Leader of the Adult ADHD Program, the psychiatrist, will also be involved in innovative treatment interventions and will participate in the training and education of medical students, residents and other allied health professionals. Active participation in academic activities and clinical research is expected.
The Regional Adult ADHD Clinic at VCH aims to become an internationally recognized integrated clinical and research outpatient facility within the Joseph & Rosalie Segal & Family Health Centre that provides world-class, patient focused care for adults with ADHD. It offers excellence in clinical care based on the best available evidence and treatment tailored to each person’s individual needs. The Regional Adult ADHD Clinic also serves as a resource to support primary care providers through consultation and education.
Key Accountabilities
Work collaboratively with others within the Adult ADHD program, includes clinicians, leaders and other stakeholders to strengthen and optimize the regional adult ADHD program for VCH/PHC.
Promote continuity of care by maintaining good working relationships with all those providing care and services and advocating for the needs of individual patients.
Use evidence based care models for the treatment of patients with ADHD.
Support the development and implementation of a provincial adult ADHD Advanced Practice strategy.
Supervise and teach residents, fellows and medical students
Support research activities of the clinic
Performing other related duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationship
The psychiatrist will report to the Vancouver Community Medical Director, Child and Adult
Compensation
The psychiatrist will provide a minimum of 0.5 days of work per week with compensation to be determined in collaboration with the successful candidate.
Education, Licensing, & Experience
A Medical Degree and eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
Specialist qualifications in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent from other parts of the world.
Eligibility for a clinical faculty appointment with the UBC Faculty of Medicine.
Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) - Full
Knowledge & Abilities
A demonstrated ability working as a member of an interdisciplinary mental health team
A commitment to participate in new methods in health improvement and care delivery
Experience working with ADHD population.
Interest in academic psychiatry and clinical research.
