Senior Communications Advisor

The Senior Communications Advisor is the Department’s in-house communications expert, providing strategic and informed expertise on topics related to the Department’s communication activities. The Advisor helps manage the Department’s messaging and profile to both internal and external audiences, ensuring alignment with best practices and legislated requirements. The incumbent ensures that all matters actioned by the Communications Division are consistent with departmental philosophies, values, and beliefs, and adhere to legislative requirements, such as the Education Act, Inuit Language Protection Act, and Official Languages Act. The Advisor supports the Department in applying its Project Management Process Administrative Directive and participates in relevant Committees. The ideal candidate has a recognized bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Business or Public Administration, plus three years of progressive experience in developing internal and external communications, public relations, and program delivery. Assets include experience in a northern environment, government setting, master’s degree, and fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages (Inuktut, English, and French).
