As part of the Corporate Technical Services team, the Director of Geomechanics will be responsible for ensuring the stability and safety of our underground and open pit mining operations. This position, based in Toronto, is responsible for developing and monitoring ground control programs at our sites to minimize the risk of ground instability and ensure safe and efficient mining processes. Team development, mentoring, technical proficiency and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management at our sites and corporate office are key to success in the role. Primary Responsibilities

Aid, educate and support mine site technical departments in the technical plan creation for survey, ground control, planning, seismicity, stress modelling, drill and blast, ventilation, geology and paste fill for the various Alamos mine sites. Aid in the creation of the annual operating budgets and capital budgets for the various mine sites and the creation of the budget physicals. Provide support and feedback to the mine sites for the delivery of the annual business plan. Oversee and aid the mine sites on their reserves and resources process, quarterly review process and LOM schedule. Plan, develop and manage the geotechnical programs with mine site staff across the various mine sites. Lead and support internal and external audits of the ground control management plans for all operations. Analyze and prepare recommendations and reports for geotechnical challenges, issues and concerns relating to construction, and improvements to mine operating performance and safety. Work with consultants, contractors, and educational institutions on geotechnical projects and assessments. Develop and assist with feasibility studies and mine design for new mine development. Conduct due diligence for prospective mine purchases focusing on mine design, mine scheduling and geotechnical aspects. Aid mine sites in analysis and rehabilitation with the occurrences of large seismic events and challenges. Experience

Preferred

B.Structure with a degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology or closely related field, with a focus on ground control / rock mechanics 15+ years of post graduate mining experience. Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in an engineering/production setting in underground and/or open pit mines Experience managing ground control teams at operating mine sites Preferably registered, or eligible for registration, as a P.Eng/P.Geo in Ontario Excellent computer skills with mine design software (Leapfrog, MineSight, Datamine, Deswik, etc.) Demonstrated expertise with geotechnical software (e.g., Rocscience suite, FLAC3D, RS2, SLIDE, Dips, etc.) Strong knowledge of geotechnical monitoring techniques and data interpretation. Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the operations and corporate management teams. Strong organizational skills, able to manage and prioritize several assignments at one time with a view to delivery of quality products/programs on time. Project management, and/or mentorship experience would be considered an asset Seniority level
