We’re seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Manager of Machine Learning & Applied Science to lead the design, development, and delivery of advanced NLP, LLM, and agent-based systems that power our AI capabilities. This is a deeply technical leadership role for someone who actively engages with the latest research, prototypes innovative approaches, and translates them into production-grade solutions that deliver measurable customer impact. You will manage and mentor a team of Machine Learning Engineers and Applied Scientists, set the technical direction for modeling efforts, and ensure projects are executed with speed, accountability, and scientific rigor. What You’ll Be Doing

Lead Modeling and System Development: Own the scope, architecture, and delivery of ML models and systems across NLP, large language models (LLM), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and multi-agent orchestration. Hands-On Applied Science and Engineering: Review research papers, identify promising techniques, and adapt them into working prototypes. Implement and optimize LLMs for reasoning, planning, and decision-making. Build and deploy intelligent agent workflows, including context-aware copilots, tool orchestration, and continuous feedback loops to improve automation and accuracy. People Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing applied science team, fostering ownership, accountability, and urgency. Provide regular feedback, support career growth, and set a high technical bar. Delivery and Collaboration: Drive project plans for modeling initiatives, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality, high-impact ML systems. Work with Product, Design, and Engineering to validate performance and deliver measurable customer value. What You’ll Bring To The Team

Applied Machine Learning Expertise: 5+ years in applied ML with a focus on NLP, LLMs, transformers, retrieval-based methods, and multi-agent systems. Ability to translate research into scalable, production-ready solutions with measurable impact. Technical Execution and Engineering Rigor: Strong Python, experience with PyTorch/TensorFlow. Skilled in designing ML architectures, prototyping solutions, and deploying models via APIs or services. Pragmatic, systems-oriented problem solving. People Leadership: 2+ years leading applied ML teams with a track record of building high-performance environments and fostering continuous learning, technical excellence, and results-driven delivery. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering to align ML with business goals. Comfortable navigating ambiguity and making trade-offs with clear communication. Where You’ll Work

Loopio is a remote-first workplace with HQ in Canada and global hub regions. Employees (Loopers) reside in Canada (British Columbia and Ontario), London, and India (Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bengaluru). Majority are based in ON and BC, with remote work within 300km of Toronto or Vancouver. Flexible co-working options available in ON and BC.
