Overview
The
Associate Director, Veterinary Services - Cattle & Equine
provides strategic veterinary leadership and technical expertise across Zoetis' Canadian Cattle and Equine portfolios. This role leads a high-performing team of veterinarians, driving excellence in veterinary operations, customer engagement, and scientific communication. The incumbent will collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, Regulatory, and R&D to ensure the delivery of impactful medical strategies that differentiate Zoetis products and support sustainable business growth.
This position is based in
Canada
and includes 40-60% travel.
Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of field veterinarians to provide outstanding support of Cattle and Equine products through the provision of technical and medical expertise to internal and external customers.
Leverage extensive commercial veterinary experience to partner closely with sales and key accounts, integrating medical expertise with market insights to enhance client engagement, optimize sales effectiveness, and accelerate business growth.
Set strategic objectives and manage departmental budgets and resources effectively.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Sales, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, VMRD) to align veterinary strategies with business goals.
Provide medical and technical leadership to the Cattle & Equine business within the Livestock Business Unit.
Support clinical trials and post-market studies to generate data that enhances product positioning and customer confidence.
Collaborate closely with Product Support and Regulatory teams to deliver accurate, technically accurate guidance and focused support, ensuring an exceptional customer experience through a proactive, solution-focused approach.
Contribute to the development and execution of product launch plans, promotional materials, and training programs for internal and external stakeholders.
Help identify key Zoetis leadership opportunities within the veterinary profession.
Manage the effective use of the clinical trials program and budget to support marketing strategies.
Build and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), veterinary schools, associations, and commercial customers.
Represent Zoetis at industry events, conferences, and professional organizations.
Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) required.
Postgraduate training or specialization in cattle or equine medicine is an asset.
5+ years of clinical veterinary experience.
5+ years in industry roles involving technical services, medical marketing, or veterinary operations.
Proven leadership experience managing teams and budgets.
Experience in strategic planning and cross-functional collaboration.
Must have an active or be eligible for provincial veterinary license and in good standing.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to influence and educate diverse audiences.
Ability to simplify complex scientific concepts and translate them into actionable business insights.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with clinical research and scientific literature review.
Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
