Job Description
Overview
This is a strategic opportunity to join the AI Model Validation and Governance (AIMVG) team as Manager, AI Governance Platform and Automation, where you’ll lead the development and enhancement of enterprise AI governance infrastructure. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how AI is governed across the organization — building scalable tools, integrating ethical principles, and ensuring compliance with evolving regulations like OSFI E-23, GDPR, and SR 11-7. This role blends hands-on engineering with strategic leadership, including oversight of offshore developers and collaboration with external vendors. Your work will directly support our mission to build trustworthy, responsible AI systems that align with our values and regulatory obligations.
This is a hybrid role with global responsibilities and collaboration across teams.
Position Responsibilities
Platform Leadership: Coordinate the build, development, and continuous improvement of AI management solutions, while upholding enterprise architecture and risk guidelines.
Responsible AI Enablement: Build and maintain tools that support responsible AI practices, including: automated model documentation pipelines, modular testing frameworks for ML models, enhancements to internal model registries and metadata systems, and integration with enterprise platforms (e.g., Databricks, Unity Catalog, Enterprise Data Lake, Archer).
Vendor & Tooling Strategy: Explore and integrate external AI governance platforms (e.g., IBM Watsonx, Dataiku Govern, Lumenova) to improve enterprise functionalities.
Multi-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with model developers, validators, risk teams, legal, compliance, and platform engineers to ensure governance tooling is practical, scalable, and audit-ready.
Policy-to-Platform Translation: Operationalize AI governance policies into technical workflows that support model lifecycle management, compliance, and regulatory readiness.
Innovation & Thought Leadership: Stay ahead of emerging trends in GenAI, AI ethics, and governance tooling. Share insights and propose standard methodologies for adoption.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in software development or AI/ML engineering.
Strong programming skills in Python (or similar), with a track record of building production-grade tools or platforms.
Familiarity with AI/ML lifecycle tools (e.g., MLflow, model registries, metadata stores).
Understanding of AI/ML model risk, validation, and governance principles.
Excellent communication and partner engagement skills.
Strong understanding of risk management and control implementation in technical environments.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and enterprise data governance tools (e.g., Unity Catalog, Archer).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in ML environments.
Exposure to regulatory frameworks or internal audit processes related to AI/ML.
Contributions to open-source ML tooling or internal platform development.
Proficiency in the latest AI governance tools such as IBM WatsonX, Databricks MLflow, Dataiku Govern, Lumenova, or similar software.
GARP RAI Certificate or similar AI governance credentials.
