Overview
Permanent full-time Head Caretaker located at Coalhurst High School (Grades 7-12). Anticipated start date: October 20, 2025 (or date mutually agreeable). Assignment: Head Caretaker. FTE: 1.0 (40 hours/week).

Responsibilities
Perform custodial duties including dusting, damp mopping floors, vacuuming, washing desks and counters, cleaning washrooms, fixtures, partitions, windows, blackboards, and ledges.
Maintain and clean office and classroom areas; manage related duties as assigned.
Assist with minor maintenance tasks and operate cleaning equipment and basic power equipment.
Follow health, safety, fire, and security protocols; manage safe chemical handling and spill response for common incidents.
Meet physical demands of the role and contribute to a tidy, safe school environment.
Mentor, supervise, and train custodial staff as needed.
Note: Some heavy lifting may be required. The work schedule is described below.
Schedule
Regular school days: 7:30 am – 11:30 am and 1:30 pm – 5:30 pm, Monday–Thursday; 7:30 am – 4:00 pm on Friday and on on Professional Development days. Break: 30 minutes (12:00–12:30).
During Easter, Christmas Reading Week, and Summer: 7:30 am – 4:00 pm (break 12:00–12:30).
Pay
Pay range is $23.00/hr to $25.00/hr, dependent on experience.
Qualifications
High school diploma
Valid Building Operator Certificate “B” or 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate
Minimum of 2 years related custodial experience
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies
Ability to perform all custodial functions and operate heating and mechanical systems
Knowledge of cleaning products, disinfecting procedures, and safe chemical management
Ability to operate and perform minor routine maintenance on power equipment
Understanding of health and safety, fire and security protocols
Experience with basic spill cleanup procedures for blood and chemical spills
Strong planning and organizational abilities
Physical capability to meet the demands of the position
Experience mentoring, supervising, and training custodial staff
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to use a variety of Division software programs
Successful Criminal Reference Check, including vulnerable sectors (within 3 months of contract start date)
