Overview
Cyclic Materials is seeking a Strategic Partnership Associate – Electronics Scrap to develop partnerships and manage relationships with Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) recyclers, IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) companies, and mid-to-large tech companies to source rare-earth bearing electronic scrap for recycling. The role involves business development, pricing negotiations, and coordinating feedstock volumes. The position is based in Downtown Toronto with periodic travel across North America. Occasional visits to engineering facilities in Kingston, Ontario and Phoenix, Arizona are possible. You will report to the Manager of Strategic Partnerships. When not traveling, the team works 4 days per week in-person in the Toronto office.
Company Description: Cyclic Materials is a cleantech company addressing environmental, geopolitical, and supply chain challenges by recovering rare earth elements and other materials from difficult-to-recycle products. The goal is to provide a secure, regional supply of metals critical to the energy transition in an ethical, economic, and sustainable way.
Responsibilities
Develop new relationships with sellers of feedstock, ITAD facilities, electronics recyclers, and product manufacturers.
Assist in the negotiation of long-term supply contracts, gathering and analyzing historical pricing information.
Stay abreast of current market trends and competitive situations/practices to meet the needs of the operations supplied.
Coordinate the supply requirements and timing with the operations department.
Assist in the development of external presentations, grant applications, certifications, and other documentation.
Support internal and external audits as they relate to the responsible handling and management of electronic scrap.
Represent the company in industry associations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Economics, Engineering or equivalent
1-3 years of experience in the electronic scrap industry, bonus for direct experience in the IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) industry
Experience developing and managing relationships from lead generation through to contracting and operationalization
Understanding of the dynamics of pricing, shipping, and availability of feedstock
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to achieve results with a respectful and inclusive style
Ability to operate in a dynamic startup environment, contributing outside of specific responsibilities
Ability to develop repeatable processes and procedures to support company growth
Familiarity with Responsible Recycling (R2), ISO 9001, 14001, & 45001 standards or adjacent compliance an asset
