What Product Management Is Like At Gusto: We’re looking for high-autonomy, entrepreneurial Product Managers to build high-impact solutions for small businesses and their employees. We believe in high-ownership Product Managers who operate like business owners—owning an entire roadmap end to end and shipping product from strategy through to the nitty-gritty details. About The Team
The Core Experiences Platform teams encompass the foundational data models, APIs, and UX concepts (or “commons”) that teams across Gusto leverage to build high quality, cohesive experiences at scale. We craft a thoughtful system of apps and experiences, considering the full stack, so that App teams can focus on solving their unique jobs to be done. This role supports Core Experiences and focuses on building new platform services to enable Gusto to serve more complex company structures.
Here’s What You’ll Do Day-to-day
Ownership: Craft a holistic vision and lead the long-term product strategy for how Gusto represents more complex companies in data models and product experiences.
North Star: Evolve Gusto’s data model and product experience to unlock new opportunities for companies with complex tax reporting structures.
Collaborate: Work with Design, Engineering, Data, and peer Product teams to drive the roadmap; manage dependencies and mitigate roadblocks affecting design system development or adoption.
Problem Framing & Research: Distill insights from stakeholders, industry trends, competitive analysis, metrics, and other sources to guide strategy.
Roadmapping & Prioritization: Set domain goals and translate them into a roadmap, milestones, and requirements to drive alignment with cross-functional partners.
Measure & Communicate: Define success metrics for adoption, usage, and system health, demonstrating value of the platform and advocating for its role as a core investment.
Here’s What We're Looking For
5+ years of product management experience driving platforms and systems, including experience building 0-1 platforms
3+ years with data modeling and/or architecture experience
Experience driving high growth of a product from launch to scaled adoption
Ability to set a strategy and translate it into a roadmap and metrics with end-to-end execution
Data- and hypothesis-driven, business-minded
Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders to build scalable platforms
Creating and growing diverse and passionate product teams
Zest for learning and first-principles thinking

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $152,000 to $190,000/yr in Denver and most major metro locations, and $184,000 to $230,000/yr for San Francisco, New York, & Seattle. Final offer amounts are determined by location, experience, and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Where do PMs at Gusto work?
We have offices in Denver, San Francisco, and New York with remote team members across the US and Canada. We are also actively hiring for hubs in Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA; and Toronto, Canada. Open roles will specify location eligibility on the careers page and in the job description.
Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees based in those locations are expected to work from the office on designated days (roughly 2-3 days per week, or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto’s subsidiary, based in Scottsdale. The San Francisco office expectations cover the SF and San Jose metro areas. When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable internet connection is required.
