Job Description What is the opportunity? As Director, ABL Underwriting you are part of a team within the Corporate Client Group (“CCG”) responsible for the structuring and delivery of new Asset Based Lending (“ABL”) loans for a targeted customer base. ABL is a highly structured product tied to the value of collateral in addition to traditional credit analysis and our loan origination targets private mid-market and small cap public Canadian corporations. As Director, ABL Underwriting you will report to the Managing Director and Head of ABL Underwriting and will lead deal teams assigned to closing new syndicated and bilateral opportunities. What will you do? Assist with new business opportunities across all platforms by triaging referrals from the ABL sales team and other internal and external networks Review and analyze financial statements, potential ABL borrowing availability, forecasts and business plans in order to propose solutions and alternatives in complex situations that meet or exceed client expectations Arrange necessary due diligence with the client and internal/external vendors and assess the results Prepare accurate and compelling credit memos that incorporate the results of all due diligence and actual/projected client results in order to identify and mitigate the risks associated with each transaction Defend the specifics of the proposed transaction in detailed negotiations to obtain all necessary business and credit approvals Coordinate with the client and legal counsel to ensure that all required loan documentation is negotiated and executed within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with RBC standards Maintain contact with the client throughout the process to ensure that expectations are met What do you need to succeed? Must-have: MBA and/or professional designation (e.g., CA, CPA, CFA), or a post-graduate degree with a focus in business, accounting, economics, mathematics or other quantitative field. 3+ years underwriting/relationship management and/or credit writing experience in a corporate lending/finance role Strong financial and risk analysis skills High level of attention to detail in all written communication and financial analysis Strong negotiation and client/relationship management skills Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; confident, credible and personable Ability to prioritize work and manage competing demands, perform well under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines Nice to have Familiarity with Asset Based Lending structures and market trends Experience negotiating security documentation and loan agreements What’s in it for you?
