Overview
Executive Producer, News, Local-Toronto (English Services) (On-Site) at CBC/Radio-Canada. Permanent position based in Toronto.
This is a leadership role in CBC Toronto’s local multiplatform newsroom, overseeing the conception, assignment and distribution of breaking, investigative, explanatory and current affairs journalism in video, audio and text across digital and broadcast platforms. The role requires strong journalistic judgment, a track record of problem solving, and a commitment to an inclusive and dynamic newsroom culture.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:
A passion for local news, strong critical thinking, decision-making under pressure, creative storytelling, and a commitment to representing diverse voices in stories and news projects. Knowledge of CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices and a focus on audience needs are essential.
Key Tasks
Provides editorial direction for all news stories.
Works collaboratively with CBC teams to maximize audience reach across platforms.
Provides meaningful feedback to news team members.
Leads planning of special projects and coverage plans.
Allocates resources against strategic outcomes.
Plans, leads and assigns breaking news coverage on all platforms, including special programming as needed.
Oversees expansion of live programming on emerging platforms such as FAST and Live Pages.
Coordinates legal support and provides editorial judgment as needed.
Responds to audience complaints.
Performs all or part of the function or duties of an equivalent or lower classification.
Requirements & Qualifications
University degree or equivalent.
Ten (10) years’ experience including work in both broadcast and digital.
Ability to work flexible hours as required, including weekends on call.
This position requires you to work in the CBC Toronto office full-time.
Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and mentoring skills.
Excellent communication and editorial judgment skills.
Experience leading teams through periods of significant change.
Highly developed vetting skills and a mindset of continuous learning.
