A publicly listed SaaS company in the business software sector is seeking a technically strong and detail-oriented VP of Finance to join their senior leadership team. The role offers a hybrid work model that requires in-office presence 3 days a week (Downtown Toronto).
The Role
This is a high-impact leadership role ideal for an experienced accounting professional with deep expertise in IFRS reporting, consolidation, compliance, and managing finance operations in a complex corporate environment. The VP of Finance will provide day-to-day continuity, ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance of all financial functions within a publicly traded setting.
Reporting to the CFO and overseeing a lean finance team, the VP of Finance will be responsible for:
Managing all aspects of external financial reporting, including quarterly and annual filings, earnings packages, and MD&A.
Overseeing consolidation of multiple entities, ensuring full compliance with IFRS and public company standards along with compliance of any tax regulations and public reporting requirements.
Maintaining and strengthening internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance procedures.
Coordinating with external auditors, regulators, and legal counsel on technical accounting, disclosure, and governance matters.
Managing ongoing financial operations (general accounting, AP/AR, payroll, treasury), ensuring seamless continuity.
Providing accurate and timely financial analysis to support senior leadership and the board.
Leading the finance team with accountability, transparency, and a strong emphasis on execution and compliance.
This role will focus on stability, reliability, and credibility in a challenging and highly visible corporate environment.
The Ideal Candidate
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, and CPA designation (required).
Strong technical expertise in IFRS with proven experience in public company reporting and multi-entity consolidation.
Experience managing finance functions within complex, regulated, and publicly traded companies.
Familiarity with US GAAP is considered an asset.
Demonstrated ability to manage through complexity with professionalism and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills with the maturity and credibility to engage senior stakeholders, the board, and external partners.
ERP and reporting system proficiency (NetSuite experience preferred).
