Strategy Manager - Life Sciences & Health

📍 Toronto, Canada

WierdAdvisory

Job Description

Overview

At Wierd(A)dvisory, we believe that the nature of advice and expertise is changing and that being strategic calls for more creative problem-solving. We prioritize an environment where exceptional individuals with diverse perspectives, thinking, and capabilities can thrive and do their best work. We are seeking an exceptional strategist to join our team at either the Manager or Senior Manager level. While both roles focus on delivering exceptional client work, Senior Managers take on additional responsibilities in business development and key account growth. We are a boutique consultancy that partners with senior executives at some of the world's most respected companies and promising start-ups, guiding them through unique challenges arising from complex internal and external dynamics. We choose to engage with you because of our willingness to approach longstanding challenges in new ways and our commitment to exceptional quality in everything we do. We are a growing startup and deliberately boutique. Craftsmanship is one of our core values and we believe in doing things very differently from what we see in big box consulting firms. The Role

As a Strategy Manager or Senior Manager, you will play a prominent role in leading critical workstreams and projects for marquee clients in life sciences, healthcare, CPG, retail, associations, and technology. You demonstrate a high level of proficiency in idea generation, problem identification, fact-finding, and strategic planning, including guiding the initial design phases of emerging initiatives and ensuring the thorough execution of projects. Your strategic contributions extend to translating client requirements into the appropriate scope, building frameworks, creating project outputs (not merely delegating), and collaborating closely with cross-functional client teams to maintain alignment throughout project progression. An essential aspect of this role involves engaging directly with senior executives, demonstrating an immediate understanding in conversations, swiftly translating needs into actionable solutions, and building credibility around recommendations to ensure they are well-received by stakeholders. You will actively collaborate with company leadership to contribute to the development of key solutions and recommendations, providing valuable insights to address challenges. Your ability to seek input thoughtfully shows in how you approach collaboration and reverse mentorship, where your strengths come to the forefront. Moreover, you\'ll take ownership of refining and finalizing deliverables, ensuring they meet the highest standards. For those joining at the Senior Manager level, you\'ll help shape our firm\'s future by cultivating key client relationships, leading strategic proposals, and innovating new service offerings that expand how we deliver value to our clients. Why Join Us

Competitive compensation package , with clear paths for growth. ♀️ Our company ethos has employee experience at the centre , fostering a culture that values well-being and enables you to do exceptional work. Flexible work location

with occasional team gatherings at a downtown loft for collaboration and fun. Culture

of exceptional work

and a start-up feel without the bureaucracy of a large enterprise. Purposeful discussion and debate

to move from dull meetings to meaningful collaboration. Pro bono and cause-related projects

as part of our business mix. Required Qualifications

You are legally able to work in Canada (Citizen, permanent resident, work permit holder). You're intellectually curious — whether through a bachelor\'s degree, graduate work in STEM, business, design, humanities, or other fields, or through self-directed learning. We care more about how you think and what you\'ve built than where you studied. You bring 5-10 years of experience, typically from management consulting, strategy roles, or transformation work. What matters is that you\'ve done interesting things connected to health, such as leading strategic projects, starting something of your own, or helping transform how organizations work. For Senior Manager candidates, we look for builders — people who\'ve grown something, whether that\'s client relationships, practice areas, or new ways of delivering value. Strong facilitation skills are non-negotiable — you know how to read a room, guide conversations, and move groups toward outcomes. You\'ve proven this through running workshops, leading collaborative sessions, and orchestrating the right mix of people to tackle complex challenges. You\'re comfortable with the tools of our trade — Microsoft Office suite (Teams, PowerPoint, Excel) is essential, and experience with modern collaboration tools is valuable. A valid passport and openness to occasional travel across the GTA, North America, and Europe is necessary. The Recruitment Process

Our process involves a 30-45 min virtual interview, a 60-min virtual panel interview, and a final, face-to-face interview in Toronto. References will be contacted before an offer. Expect clear and timely communication throughout. How to Apply

Ready to be part of something exceptional? Let\'s talk. Skip the traditional cover letter. Instead, tell us where you see yourself (Manager or Senior Manager) and show us how you think through a short note or single slide that captures your story. We want to understand what hard problems you think matter and what makes you \"good-weird\". For Managers, tell us about something non-obvious you\'ve noticed about how generative AI is changing knowledge work. We\'re interested in insights that would make senior executives stop and think. For Senior Manager candidates, what\'s your hypothesis about how boutique advisory firms win? Share a story about something meaningful you\'ve helped build, and tell us what opportunities you see for W(A) that others might be missing. Feel free to be creative with the format - we care more about substance and clarity of thinking than polish. And yes, we genuinely love a well-placed emoji. Email your response, along with your resume and LinkedIn profile URL, to hiring@wierdadvisory.com. Visit www.wierdadvisory.com to learn more about us. We\'re looking to fill this position ASAP.
