Stroke Neurologist . The physician will deliver appropriate inpatient and outpatient services in the field of Neurology, specializing in strokes. The physician will participate in the provincial neurology and telestroke on call system. The physician will participate in the Division of Neurology schedule for inpatient and Emergency Medicine consultations. Other duties may be determined by the Division of Neurology within the Department of Medicine. Neurologists are encouraged to be part of the teaching program affiliated with Dalhousie University Medical School and Memorial University Medical School postgraduate program and teaching in the undergraduate program at Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick. Reporting to the Neurology Division Head and the Medical Director for the area, the Physician collaborates with other Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, and other Allied Medical Staff to provide comprehensive neurological care. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to the operation of Horizon Health Network. Provide ambulatory care in a teaching clinic setting. Provide inpatient care including rounds on patients. Provide consultations to hospital-based patients as requested by attending staff. Provide on-call services during statutory holidays, evenings and weekends as part of the on-call schedule of the provincial service. A medical degree is required. Certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as Specialist Neurology or UK equivalent, with additional Fellowship training in Stroke Neurology. Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick. Written and spoken competence in English is required at an advanced level. Bilingual skills would be considered an asset.
