We are seeking a highly motivated and client-focused Equity Program Trader to join our Global Markets team. This hybrid role combines equity sales & trading expertise with deep analytical capabilities to support index-related trading strategies, client facilitation, and market intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a key point of contact for institutional clients on program trading and index-related flows.
Collaborate with equity sales to pitch trade ideas, transition strategies, and liquidity solutions.
Build and maintain strong relationships with asset managers, pension funds, and hedge funds.
Program Trading
Execute equity program trades with precision and minimal market impact.
Monitor and manage execution algorithms, TCA, and real-time market conditions.
Collaborate with sales and portfolio managers to optimize execution strategies for index rebalances, transitions, and custom baskets.
Index Research
Track and analyze index methodology changes and their impact on securities and portfolios.
Model index rebalances and corporate actions to anticipate flows and trading opportunities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
3-7 years of experience in equity trading, index research, or equity trading analytics preferred
Strong understanding of global equity markets, index construction, and ETF mechanics
Proficiency in Excel, Bloomberg, and trading platforms; Python or SQL skills are a strong asset.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The base salary for this role is CAD $150,000. BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package includes performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards, such as health insurance, tuition reimbursement, accident and life insurance, and retirement savings plans.
